Been a while since I've bought a PS2 game with the exception of the new Madden. I'm looking for a non sports PS2 game preferably a RPG. I know nothing about what's out there right now or what's any good. Any suggestions on one? I'd like for it to be newer. Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions.

Oh....no online games either.

If you can get by the long load times, Magna Carta. If you can find a copy that is. Great RPG, with a lot of new innovative stuff IMO.

Heard Dragon Quest 8 was alright as well.

Kengo.
Not new, not rated as amazing but is simply the only way you'll chop another guy to bits, in true style.

Yeah, the new Dragon Quest that just came out got really good reviews.

About this Dragon Quest game. I haven't played any of them would that leave me totally out of the game or is it like some other RPG's where they're not all linked and I can pick up anywhere?

As far as I know, the Dragon Quest games are not linked.

And while it's not an RPG, I've heard amazing things about Shadow of the Colossus.

More game ideas puleaze. I get out of work in a few hours and I'm heading on over to the local Walmart.

Hmm, I don't pick up many games but one gem I found (or so I think!) was Shadow Hearts Covenant. It's a sequel to an earlier game but I played it alone just fine before I tracked down the first.

Oh, wait, of course! I don't know if you've already played it, but Kingdom Hearts kicks surprising amounts of ass.

Then there's Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is good too; the plot tastes like ass but the battle system is just insanely addictive.

What battle system? *coughcraftingcough* is where all my time was spent.

Also, the two updated version of Xenogears, now called Xenosaga aren't that bad.

I stopped reading half way down the posts so if its been suggested already my apologies but Id suggest Indigo Prophecy its not exceptionally long and drawn out but I thought it was rather fun.

If you like fighting you cant really loose with Soul Cal 3 either.

Disgaea, Final Fantasy X, and Kingdom Hearts are all pretty good. :)

yeah, they lied to you.

edited to say:

Let me take this opportunity to put out there that you should ger Magna Carta. Seriously, great game so far. I can't count the amount of times where I tell myself, "Ok, next save point, I'm stopping for the day", only to discover a new point to the plotline of the story that makes me want to know what happens next. If this game didn't have a neat fighting system and a great storyline, I would have stopped playing it after the second long load time.

FF12 will be out...just sleep for a few months and get it when you wake up. Dynasty warriors although not rpg is a great time killer..as well as stress killer.
