View Full Version : Anyone know someone in Japan?

Does anyone know someone currently in Japan that I could trust to buy something (inexpensive) for me? The company does not export to the US or Canada yet so my only way of getting it is through someone who is already there.

Let me see if my friend over there would be willing. I will try and remember to get back to you, but a U2U would help a bunch.
Finis
I'm travelling there in February.

I talked to my friend over there, and he can't. His school schedule is just keeping him way too busy. Sorry.

O! Can you elaborate on the item? My curiosity is peaked.
He did mention:
yahoo.co.ja
... if you can read Japanese (sp?).

My friend went to China for her honeymoon last month. She was in Japan in transit and bought me a little package of cat treats. My cat never really liked any brand of treats that I've tried so far and I've tried them all. Now these japanese ones drive her absolutely nuts. She swats at my hand impatiently when I pull one out, tries to eat it through the wrapper, all the while purring as loudly as I've ever heard coming from her... it's hilarious.
I found a site that sells them online but it was in japanese only which made me suspect that they didn't ship internationally. I emailed the company who makes the treats and they've confirmed to me that they don't yet export to North America.

Do you know the name of the cat treats, Adhara, in its English form? The manufacturer might not export to the US, but someone else well may. Perhaps, you could Google by the name of the product and find someone who'll send it.

May I inquire as to why anyone would ever do this?

The package says Petz Route and "Cat Snack" as you can see on this website:
http://www.rakuten.co.jp/club-genki/431587/652375/653133/
The website listed on the package is
http://www.petz-route.co.jp
(I used the info email from that website to ask about international shipping)
The parent company seems to be this:
http://www.doggyman.com/english/
That's about all I could find with google. If someone else more adept finds something else, I'd love to know what.
May I inquire as to why anyone would ever do this?
She's been dreaming of that trip to China since she was a girl. Took some asian studies classes in university too. Why do you find this so surprising?

I find it surprising because Communist China can Communist Explode.

I can't think of a better country to spend my honeymoon than one that dictates how many kids each couple can have.

Limiting Bob's parents ability to have children may have been a good idea, while he is intelligent, at times his immaturity really makes him come across sounding like a close minded idiot.
I don't know what's up with you lately Bob, but you should take a chill pill or something.

Are you insinuating that I should value China as anything more than cheap labor?

Japan and China are on two completely different places.

Yes it is also home to secret labour camps and brainwashing centres based on Soviet Gulags. It is the country that tried to unduly influence U.S. policy by making illegal campaign contributions to Clinton's campaign. It is the country where democracy isn't allowed and Free Speech will get you run over by a tank. Some believe it is the country that funds Al Qaida to destabilize America. It is the country that puts Mao's tomb on display for tourists. The Man who butchered up to 50 million people. China so much more than cheap labour.
I wouldn't visit that filthy Communist country if you paid me. God forbid business ever forces me to go there.
I am not against the Chinese people, they have my greatest sympathies. It is the Communist rulers I despise.

Thanks for the contact Finis. I'll definitely get in touch with your friend.

Now, how cool is that? Two people from opposite sides of the globe connect because of a spoiled feline, a message board, and cat treats that aren't exported. Somehow, that makes me smile. :)

If I'm going to export something from Japan, she's going to be between 19 and 23, stay with me for 7 to 10 days, and then go home.

If you have any Japanese food stores near you, you might want to take the package and check with them.
