So, has there been any thought to converting the board to this one (http://simplemachines.org/)? A few people seemed ot like it when I suggested it on the temporary board. Is it possible without losing anything?

The avatars get warped if they are not perfectly square.

There's really no point in registering or logging onto the new forums. It's there for testing and I do plan on converting all the content to them over a long period of time.

So you really want to switch to those.

Not to be dense (which is hard to avoid in my case) but I’m curious as to why? What makes it better than XMB? Is it a database thing because I can’t see any user advantage yet. In fact, it is lacking a today’s posts link which really makes this board great.

I think the problem that this board is causing is that it's just so bloated and takes up too many resources as-is.

All of the features that currently exist will be implemented in any new forum software that is used.

Admittedly, I was very naiive in the handling of forum features on the current forums. Many external, 3rd party hacks were used and implemented on these forums without giving any regard to the resources they required or their effect on other parts of the forum software and eventually all these hacks resulted in a major resource bloat which got us kicked off of the old server.

I will try and avoid doing this as much as possible in the future, and want to only implement custom made hacks. All of the features that exist on these forums will be custom programmed into the new forums. SimpleMachines provided a very easy to modify base, but it isn't as of yet a final decision since I haven't started programming anything into it yet. I certainly would like to make a final decision very soon, but of all the forum software that was recommended to me, SimpleMachines seemed like the best.
