If you have 75 ranks of air lore and can get a lance down to base 5 via dex/agi . . . 2 RT lance ftw.

Think sonic lances are some of the best polearms. With enough air lore, it flares like 2/3s of the time, and can make for some impressive crits. Weighs less than any other lance out there, if that facors into aiming at all. Lances can't be forged, so nothing beats it for DF. Just gonna say, if yer a bard poler, use a sonic lance.

Depends on the situation. If it's an area that is retarded swarm happy I'll go with a naginata or other halberd for base speed since I swing them in 1 second. If I know I'm only going to see 1-3 critters per room I'll use a lance/pike for pure stopping power.

Seeing a giant swinging a lance on foot would look like an average person swinging a spear. Seeing a human trying to use a lance on foot would be rather comical. Get a freaking horse damnit. And dont even go there with a halfling waving a lance around... :lol:

Lances are the best DF/damage/crit-wise....naginata's are cool 'cause they're 4x off the shelf and can be ebladed. Lances have 3 more seconds of base RT versus the naginata.

Overall, I'd also have to say it depends on the situation. My new Erithian bard started out with a lance and she's completely in love with it (even if she'll be swinging a naginata regularly after she turns 10). Once she gets her sonic weapon, she'll have no problem singing up a sonic lance when she needs the hit power (swarms and such).
