Snowed here, too. There are like 6 inches in my yard. I dislike it.
Any of you refuse to celebrate this day?
Also would like to know what you're eating if you don't eat birds.

Ham, roast, anything you'd eat on any other day of the year. Not that I refuse, I just can't this year.
A Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, I hope you have many blessings for which to give thanks.
I eat everything but the two 15-pound turkeys my mother and my aunts cook... there's plenty of casseroles and vegetables and rolls and potatoes and whatever, so it doesn't matter that I hate turkey. :D
Right now I'm waiting on the rest of the horde (relatives) to show up. The total is 26 people this year, which is actually down four from last year. So many relatives... >.<
26 relatives.
That sounds. . like a nightmare.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Same to you Backlash and everyone else.
Going to sister's house for dinner today. This year she finally wisened up and decided to go the Boston Market route. I'm still doing the candied yam casserole though because it's a family favorite and they always look forward to finding out how my recipe changes from year to year (I improvise on the sauce every year and I never know what I'll end up with til it's done). I also added my dad's chocolate mousse for dessert, which turned out even more delicious than I hoped it would. I poured off a single cup of it for myself before loading the rest in souffle dishes. YUM

Definitely not a vegetarian, but very confused. Aren't marshmallows like... just sugar?

Happy Thanksgiving all. Me and my sister did a bunch of prep work and baking last night.. and are doing the rest today. We are having turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, candies yams (gag), mashed potatoes, jello salad, green bean casserole, rolls, apple and pumpkin pie.

<<Aren't marshmallows like... just sugar?>>
Marshmallows are made from gelatin and gelatin is made from animals (fish, beef, primarily).
Vegatarians are seriously fucking insane.

Bob got it. At least he's not vegan like Megan... that's too goddamn annoying. But gelatin is primarily the bone marrow from beef so.. he won't eat it. So we have to make two dishes. It's like making stuffing, we have to make two sets.

They make vegan marshmellows though. That's an option if you really feel like catering to them.

That requires agar agar to replace the gelatin.

I was in the kitchen making Deviled Eggs and the kids start talking about the meaning of Thanksgiving.
My six year old rambles for awhile about how the Indians and Pilgrims became great friends and we're thankful for that.
The nine year old comes in and says that's not it happened! Our people came to America, killed off the Indians, stole their land and their women, gave them Harrahs (he recently visited Cherokee), and now we kill a turkey every year in honor of that.
That pretty much killed our warm fuzzy talk of Thanksgiving. Now the two are still fighting and sort of rolling up and down the hallway. Its time for Mommy to go kill something.

I've been up cooking since about 5am or so, making yeast rolls. This year the Turkey is small (10lbs), and I am baking a ham. It is just going to be the immediate family, and my best friend and her children. Her husband is spending his Thanksgiving in Iraq.
We have on the menu..Turkey, Ham, yeast rolls, candied yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, creamed corn, green salad, fruit salad, and cranberry sauce. Of course I've put out relish trays, cheese/sausage and crackers, and various other snack type things for the kids.
We will start dinner with one of the kids saying a prayer, then everyone around the table will state something they are Thankful for. We do this every year, and even when we have a house full of Dorm Dwellers, or BMT Airmen...it all goes well.
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

I just want to say that I have made the best damn turkey ever. I don't think I have ever made a turkey this good. It was falling off the damn bones and moist and yummy. And I will never be able to replicate this again. And I made killer white chocolate fudge too. Its funny trying to watch Liam try to grab everyones stuff, since hes now in the "i'm fascinated with everyone elses food now" phase.
Happy Thanksgiving all!

It's fucking freezing here, though no snow. 19 degrees last I checked. It's toasty indoors and that matters the most.
I hope everyone enjoys their family and friends today.
