We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. It doesn't sound like the way Rooney phrases things. There are things I agree with, things I don't, and things that are funny. I also find it funny when people try to pass these things off as other people's work, like that horrible top ten list of things that piss me off someone tried to pass off as Adam Sandler where it says something like "I hate when people point at their wrist when asking the time, I don't point at my crotch when I ask where the bathroom is." I thought the Adam Sandler thing was stupid where this is funny.

Not officially. However, if you want to be legal, you need to be able to read the citizenship test. I'm pretty sure it only comes in one language.

I have to say, the language barrier strikes me as very annoying. We had some portuguese people re-tile our kitchen floor. Only one spoke english. One day I came home and they were ripping up all the NEW tiling off the floor and no one could explain to me why they were doing this. In fact, the only explanations I could receive were a few uncomfortable smiles and "No english". A few hours later, the guy who could barely speak english explained "no stick right, have to lay down again".

I don't mind when people try to work through it, when they actually make an effort. When I was in Mexico, I made a very good effort to speak Spanish. If I was in Portugal, had been there for years, didn't know how to say anything other than "I don't speak Portuguese", I would be considered an asshole.

So, while we don't have an "official" language, the language the far and almost absolute majority speak is English. I feel you should, at least, out of respect for the area you're living, make somewhat of an effort to learn the language.

Where I live, racism is alive and well. The black community and the white community in the greater Trenton area most certainly do NOT get along well. As for me, I hate stupid scumbags in general, white, hispanic, black or otherwise. I pretty much hate most people I meet. <G>

As for fake Rooney comments, I agree with a lot of them. In today's society, where we preach about wiping away the racial lines, why be antagonistic and make black only or white only ANYTHING? I thought it's not okay to exclude people from things on the basis of their skin color, whether's it white excluding black or black excluding white.

But to answer your question of "How would I know it?"

Well, I've been a minority for the vast majority of my time in this planet. I realize by not having a name like Tariq it's hard for people like yourself to get that and I know that despite the racism that still prevails today it's only a shadow of what it once was when I would have had to ride the back of the bus, use different bathrooms and generally couldn't do well for myself without the prospect of being lynched.

Then of course theres the fact that I'm not relegated to picking cotton 20 hours a day because I gots me a strong back.
