I'm curious, what are opinions on the best furniture stores and brands. Which have the most choices or best quality for example?

Not going shopping anytime soon, but I enjoy window shopping and can't seem to find anywhere good to look!

Really depends on what level of quality/expense you're looking for. My 2 favorites (for totally different stuff) are Arhaus and Ikea.

Well I like Ethan Allen's furniture but the catch is they don't tell you how long it takes till after you sign the credit card slip. I ordered a whole bedroom set for my new house in April but didn't get it delivered till July. They said all furniture is custom made. My A$$!!!! I don't think they buy it/stock it until someone orders it. Now that is a racket.

Anyone that works at EA care to enlighten me on this?

On a recommendation, I like pottery barn/crate barrel although the quality is par or sub at times.

I agree, Arhaus is pretty nice. But expensive. We bought our entertainment center there, but for the rest of the downstairs furniture it was Roomstore FTW.

I have all Bassett Furntiure, and I am very happy with it. I would recommend them, and they usually have some kind of no interest financing plan going on.

Heh I myself find window shopping and the deals here rather good!

eBay (http://www.ebay.com)

I know most people would cringe at it but there are brand names of all types up there some used some new since a lot of companies use eBay as their store front and you can usually find good deals. I just got a posturpedic mattress and boxspring half off local prices and it was brand new.

/inserts two cents

My favorite furniture store is Oggi (http://www.oggimodfurn.com/). Funky shop downtown KC, about a block from where I used to live.

Bombay Company is pretty nice too.

I've gotten some nice things from there recently, but not like whole dining room or living room sets.

I would always shop at Mathis Brothers when we lived in OKC. My parents did as well. Huge furniture store with great deals and really well made furniture but I believe it's a local store only. Plus..well there's that whole incident with the gerbil and one of the brother's..nasty thing there. :hi:

If you're anywhere near Youngstown, Ohio, I'd check out the Goldstein's discount outlet in Boardman. Mike and I got the most awesome dining room set there. Unfortunately, if they have a website I can't seem to find it. The one I did find was some office outlet in Mass., not house stuff in Ohio.

For window shopping/browsing I love Ikea. I walk through there and mentally redecorate my house with every new display.

And what about that Mathis Brothers gerbil incident? Was one of them dating Richard Gere?

Heh, one of the brothers had to go to the local hospital because he had a gerbil inserted in his ass that ate the lining of his rectum trying to get out. They surgically removed the gerbil, which lived oddly enough, and it was all over the news. They definitely got more publicity than they wanted over that one, I'm sure. It didn't stop people from buying there though, nor did it stop the brother from appearing in the tv commercials.

Do these people who like to play with hamsters/gerbils et al not know that they are rodents and as such have teeth and claws?
