For sale. Buyer pays any transfer fee if applicable.

1 for sale for RL cash. Minimum bid $300.00

Another for sale for in-game silvers. Minimum bid 30 million silvers.

Yes, I know steep. Yes, I know, greedy pig.

I'm more to happy to go myself if they don't sell.

75 woulda been ok for a ticket... as a standard member...if you people didn't buy them all!

GAH!

I hate how I can only play a fraction of this game without being too poor to eat.

It's their business model, though, and it works, apparently. More power to the company, can't knock good capitalism in my right mind. GMs are all pretty cool people, and work hard to do this and other stuff for us, so it would be pretty cruel to really tear them a new one for this, especially after EG was free.

But I CAN bitch and while like a 14 year old girl. Commence bitching now. <whine>

CrystalTears
11-14-2005, 05:38 PM
They can sell their tickets for any amount they want. What they shoudln't have done was allowed them to be transferrable. That was dumb.

SpunGirl
11-14-2005, 05:40 PM
Meh, if you want to complain to anyone, complain to the head d00ds. As far as I know, GMs don't really have anything to do with setting prices... they just slave to create shops and alter for people who h8erade on them when they say "no" to an item, and get a teeny GM share check in the mail.

-K

The Ponzzz
11-14-2005, 05:48 PM
Yea GMs only get a very very small amount of those ticket sales, which then gets split up between the active GMs who do the event.

And complaining to anyone at Simu will get you no where on these subjects.

People still have like 7 or 8 characters actually going though. Kinda sucks for the rest of us. Simu doesn't care, but they should. Different people make for a more fun event. 8 of the same person is just shit. They still get their cash, though.

I'd just be looking for containers, runestaves and niiiice full leathers anyway.

keep me in mind on the runestaves and fulls. My staff is only 5.5x and my leathers only 6x swcp (thought they were heavy).

Just a quick question cause I'm kinda out of the gemstone loop...

What exactly are these tickets and how much did they con people out of this time?

Jay
11-14-2005, 06:58 PM
They are tickets to a week long event on a merchant ship named Foehn's Promise. The real allure is an auction/raffle during the ship's run in which EACH of the 250 attendees is GUARANTEED an "auction quality" item. All for the low low price of only $75.00! No ups, no downs, no extras!

It was run once before years and years ago in Gemstone's "illustrious" past after which there was much hue and cry as people claimed that it equated to Simu selling items for cash. As a result many GM's (including on-site GM's) at the time publically stated that such an event would never happen again.

Well, until they needed the money apparently. :)

1. way to try to back off the burner by saying it was just to stir up shit. you are lying, end of story.

2. the main reason the GMs said that it would not happen again was because it took up almost 9 months worth of GM resources that could be better put into many areas

3. dont be surprised when you see the exact item list from the plat auction as the raffle auction for this event (unless the plat was less than 250 items, then obviously they'd have to incorporate more, most likely things that have been put out already)

Hecto -

You don't know Jay very well. The guy doesn't need the cash. And he's famous for collecting auction quality items. I'm sure that he had scoped out all the possibilities before putting up his tickets.

Yeah, I thought you were talking about his intentions with the tickets - not the stirring the pot.

However, instigating is an art for Jay. And I say that with much love and admiration.

I have a ticket, I am not selling it and I don't care about the policy. So I'll let just stfu like Xyelin said and let Jay take care of himself.

Except this rule change does NOTHING to prevent Jay, which I find unlikely, or anyone else from selling anything, sure they cant go to the event. What is preventing them from etting the item said ticket generates? We all know 90 percent of the people going on the Promise arent going to play Bones or get alters.

Ok, but Sorrow was on the platnium list and you said the exact plat item list so by inference....

touche. yeah i dont remember all that was on the list, and failed to remember that sorrow was released in that auction. so yes, you are correct.

i should rephrase it to 'almost exact copy of the plat auction, minus the item/items that may have been released at that time in plat that already exist in prime, in a unique way'

Ardwen
11-14-2005, 08:17 PM
That would be about 20-40 items Hecto, theres really very few items that arent originally from prime on that list and most of those are tickets.

Jay
11-14-2005, 08:27 PM
I don't know if Khaladon ever ran his Brutality game in Prime.

Basically a Brutality ticket wins you in a spot in a grab bag game with a total of 10 participants usually. The first person to go picks one of ten different colored bag worn on Khal's NPC. He gets the bag, looks inside and without saying a single word about what he's gotten or manipulating it in any way, he decides whether to keep the first bag or pass it to the next person in line. If he keeps it, thats his win for the present time and he keeps it in the bag until the game is finished. If he passes the bag, he picks another bag off the NPC and whatever is inside that second bag is his win. Play then passes to the next person.

So basically each person has a look at two items and winds up with one with the potential to screw your neighbor by passing them trash. After each player has a bag, then the can trade sight unseen, or pull their items out revealing their win and trade then.

I think its pretty stupid to waste a auction token on a blind item but Khal seems to love this game.

Jay

I think the difference is you're only miffed you were not getting a cut of some potential action.

Do you say, "Heavens forfend" to your co-workers? If the answer is no, you shouldn't have said it here.

Frankly I don't know why Simu even bothered to disallow ticket transfers. Not even Jay-esque logic can make tickets to a guaranteed item different from actual items.
