California Man Caught in 'HOV' Lane With Dummy

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (Nov. 4) - Say what you want about police officers, but they are no dummies. The California Highway Patrol gave Kevin Morgan, 28, of Petaluma, a $351 citation for driving in a high occupancy vehicle or "HOV" lane with a kickboxing dummy propped in the passenger seat.

The dummy was wearing a Miami Dolphins windbreaker and a baseball cap but Officer Will Thompson noticed that the "passenger" had no legs.

"When I looked inside his window, I thought, 'Oh, that's cute,"' Thompson said. "I didn't even ask him where he got it. I think he was pretty embarrassed because all the people driving by were laughing."

Thompson often parks next to a car pool lane and stands on his car door rail to look down into passing vehicles. His point of view allowed him to see the legless dummy.

"I think about the only thing he said was, 'Well, that didn't help me very much today, did it?"' Thompson said. "I said, 'No, it didn't.'

Thompson then placed the dummy on a freeway shoulder to deter other commuters from similar schemes.

Here in NoVa, along I-66 during rush-hour it's HOV in the far left lane, and the far right lane has light signals that turn to green to open up the lane (during non-rush hour it's red - noone in that lane).

I hate assholes who drive up in the far right lane when there's a big red X over it. Sometimes they just keep their left turn signal on but never get over. They zoom up the lane and almost pile into cars getting off at the exit who get over when the lane turns into a legitimate lane.

On more then one occasion I pace just ahead of a car riding in the red X lane and get off the exit just in front of them, just to piss them off.

Yeah, saw a vid of someone who had a "FUCK YOU" pop up in his back windshield. Was basically a sheet tied to two windshield wipers he set up on his back dash. Amusing.

Yup, you'll notice it was a mercedes that was doing that Fuck You sign in that video too. I laughed my ass off. Then I cried because I don't have a car that nice.

When I moved to the Dallas area I was in shock at the back-ups on the highway noticed the HOV lane and promptly had my first child!

I think the metroplex has got to be the worst backed up highways in the world, I miss the Buffalo area in NY highways were simple. The mixmaster here in Texas about made me lose what little sanity I have left.
