View Full Version : Full Plate or 3x Dodge

Later in my training I'll be able to push my armor training up to enough to get full plate. I can do this by sacrificing 3x Dodge. Currently I am effectively 2x dodge but would be moving up to 4xing later on at about the same time I'd have gotten the plate. What I want to know is which would be the better choice. Bob or anyone really familiar with the calculations: I'd really like to know how much DS I'd lose from dropping from 64 ranks of dodge (from 266 to 202 at level 100).
Race is dark elfm using a 10x two-hander, stats will be:
Enhanced (Bonus)
Strength (STR): 100 (25)
Constitution (CON): 100 (20)
Dexterity (DEX): 105 (37)
Agility (AGI): 105 (32)
Discipline (DIS): 100 (15)
Aura (AUR): 96 (33)
Logic (LOG): 97 (23)
Intuition (INT): 100 (30)
Wisdom (WIS): 65 (12)
Influence (INF): 67 (3)

Bear in mind that no formula has ever been very well established for DS and the play.net ones are downright wrong.
That being said, and assuming that you're currently in MBP of equal enchant, going from 266 ranks in your armor to 202 ranks in full plate will result in a loss of 66 DS in stance offensive. However, your AvD will always be 18 lower in full plate, so it's really only 48 DS.

I'd stick with MBP and 3x dodge.

105 DEX and AGI? What?

Assuming you're a rogue, I'd go with MBP 3x dodge. Cost/benefit and so on. I'd put a warrior in full plate though.

3x dodge and mbp ftw.
i had an archer rogue that was 3x dodge wearing mbp, aimed firing from the open. now granted, wasnt high enough train to wear full plate, but there is no way that i would have sacrified the 3x dodge to get into it if i could.
the way i see it, if you want full plate, use your post-100 train TPs to pick it up, while keeping the 3x dodge

Rogue? 3x dodge, unquestionably.

Eh. I guess I'm the odd one out.
My rogue is in full plate and at 2x dodge. He's an archer with full picking training though; couldn't fit 3x dodge and keep those skills up.
Ithzir and the like currently can connect at endrolls as high as +280, with an average of probably around +200. The DS would help some, but I think the plate divisor on the non-torso area keeps him from being shredded to bits. Although that might be more important to an archer because of the ease of being disabled for combat.

Those are my feelings also. Bearing in mind I will be 3x dodge until level 85 when I have the points to gain the full 140 ranks of armor (whereby I'll then drop the dodge ranks and fixskills). I AM going to get hit, there is no two-ways about it. I'm just curious whether or not the difference between MBP and plate will be worth it points wise. Plus there are many, many more nice suits of full plate than their partial armor contemporary.

Full plate also has a bit better CvA which is really the only thing I care about.

Full plate has 3 better CvA. Something to consider if you're close to warding, but shouldn't be a deal-breaker.
To illustrate the difference in crit divisors without taking your natural crit padding into account and assuming you have 40% redux, which I really hope you can pull off by level 85:
Someone poking you in the eye with a spear would require an endroll of 273 to get a rank 4 crit max on your eye in MBP and what amounts to a 352 (given the AvD change) in Full Plate.

Psh to 40%. I think I'm near 60% at the moment.
