Citizens of countries where aids is a major threat were told by the Catholique church to NOT use condoms, as there was small holes in them that allowed aids to spread.

Catholique church proclames that in places like Africa, Asia and latin America DESPITE the fact that it's scientificly prooven that condoms are "waterproof" to aids.

So, in Keyna, where there's about 20% of the population that got aids, Catholique church forbids the condoms and the archbishop of Naibori Raphael Ndingi Nzeki says that aids spread more BECAUSE of the accessibilty of condoms.

...?

I think they mean AIDs spreads more because of the availability, not because of the condoms themselves, but because by passing them out, they're encouraging sex.

I don't really have an opinion on the overseas issues. But I do agree that in the US the the open discussion of sex and birthcontrol in schools seems to send the message that it's ok. But on the other hand, if these things weren't available, the situation for those who would do it anyway would be even more grave.

As far as the Catholic Church thing, I really don't understand most of Xcaliburs post, so I'll reply to Camri's.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't Camri. I think they should continue to hand out condoms in schools. In today's society, where sex is everywhere, they are GOING to do it... might as well be safe about it.

I agree with that. But if they hadn't started handing them out way back when, would the situation be what it is today?

I think so.. if not worse. With the way sex is played up in almost everything on television.. from commercials, to sitcoms, to cartoons.. its encouraging kids to have sex. At least the condoms may have prevented some spread of disease or unwanted pregnancies (and god knows we don't need anymore stupid people breeding).

Ok, you win. I can't argue about stupid people breeding.

It's even more sick when they have to go on Jenny Jones or Maury and have 5-10 guys tested to see WHO the "baby daddy" is!

two reasons why the church's rule does not bother me.

1. STDs are very tiny organisms, minuscule in size compared to sperm. These super-small viruses can get through a hole in a condom much more easily than sperm can. For example, HIV (the AIDS-causing virus) is so small that two million of the disease-causing agents could crowd on the period at the end of a sentence.

In 1993 the University of Texas analyzed the results of 11 different studies that had tracked the effectiveness of condoms to prevent transmission of the AIDS virus. The average condom failure rate in the 11 studies for preventing transmission of the AIDS virus was 31%.

One reason condoms fail in preventing the transfer of AIDS is that latex condoms have tiny intrinsic holes called "voids." Sperm is larger than the holes, but the AIDS virus is 50 times smaller than these tiny holes which makes it easy for the virus to pass through [Source: Dr. C. M. Roland, editor of Rubber Chemistry and Technology]. To give you an idea of how easy it would be for the virus to pass through these holes, just imagine a ping pong ball going through a basketball hoop.

2. 140 million condoms would last the continent of Africa twenty-four hours. What happens tomorrow morning?"

Religion, in general, is the biggest cause of misery, death and war in the history of mankind.

I feel so prudish and old-fashioned. I've never had sex with anyone, even with a condom, without them getting tested for a few STDs. To cut down on any lying, I'm in the room or on the phone with them when they get the diagnosis. My mother has herpes.. I don't take chances.

Psh. You'll need to call your regular doctor to tell them to release your medical records to me, along with taking all the tests while I am present. Although I might not sit in for the chlamydia test... I hear it's deeply uncomfortable. :D

Oh it is. Imagine a cocktail umbrella being inserted up...then splayed open then pulled out... And women moan about periods. PSH!

it's funny that you're the only one that don't understand my post (or you're the only one to tell)

first paragraph in short: In countries where AIDS is a major threat, the Catholique Church told them condoms were useless to protect oneself against AIDS..

Second paragraph in short: The Catholique Church saids that (paragraph one) in countries of Africa, latine America (Peru, Brézil, Argentine, et cetera) and of Asia despite the fact it's scientificly proven(proved by sciences) that condoms are impermeable (cannot be breached) by AIDS.

Third paragraph in short: In Kenya, where 20% of the WHOLE population are affected by AIDS, the Catholique Church FORBIDS (they says it's forbidden) to use condoms. The archbishop of Naibori Raphael Ndingi Nzeki even says that condoms HELPS AIDS to spread even more.

Catholic. Catholic. Catholic.

despite the fact it's scientificly proven(proved by sciences) that condoms are impermeable (cannot be breached) by AIDS.

I've seen a source sited that says otherwise. Please, site your source too.

The Catholic Church also says no sex before marriage, how many follow that? If they did, they wouldn't have to worry about AIDS.
