The principles of the modern Republican Party elude me. Back in the day it used to be fiscal conservatism. That's gone. Back in the day it used to be a level playing field for everyone. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Thomas Jefferson was a Republican. These days you sure wouldn't fucking know it.

These days it seems to be about nationalism irregardless of diplomacy, Christianity backed by a strong dose of intolerance, and paying as little money possible to the civic welfare while releasing any and all controls on business.

You're right in your comments that in another world I might be a Republican. I'm actually pretty damn fiscally conservative. I believe in individual liberties and capitalism. It sure isn't this world however.

Education also has a curious tendency to promote liberal views...because if you look at the basis for being a Republican...it's pretty selfish.
