Ok I thought I had once made a topic on this but I couldn't find it...

As Kazaa, Ares, and Morpheus have all died on me, anyone know a good program for downloading music? I've been without one for about 10 days and I am dying for new music!

Limewire

That's what another friend suggested to me but the other friend freaked out and said it was awful for spyware. How is it?

Yea you put a massive spy ware on with limewire.

Kazaa Lite K++ works nicely for me...

So.. is there a better alternative? Kazaa Lite died on me as well, same with Ares. Don't know why. Just suddenly they wouldn't download anything.

If you want high quality and complete albums Soulseek is the best bar none.

If you are less patient, and file quality/integrity matters less, LimeWire is good. I'd recommend taking the time to get to know Soulseek, you won't be disapointed.

Next question that I guess goes along with this, anyone know good virus/spyware protection?

I'm going to (correctly) guess that every person that has said anything about spyware in this thread has no fucking idea what they're talking about. KaZaA in any form puts you at more risk than anything else I've used. LimeWire is excellent and should be used exclusively for P2P. I'd get BitComet and use torrent sites, as well. Limewire doesn't pack quite as much punch when it comes to downloading albums.

The Ponzzz

Anytime I used Limewire, not only did it take awhile to load( I have a gig of memory and hardly anything running), it threw on over 40 things of spyware that were zapped.

When I started Kazaa, I get none.

I dunno, but that's the truth on my end.

I have/get zero spyware from Limeware.

Kazaa fucked my computer up

Oh I am 100% certain my computer is full of spyware. And Norton just won't remove it.. drastic measures are needed.

You can go to download.com for Limewire. It works good for me.

For your spyware problem, try the one and only super duper spyware remover..
Webroot Spy Sweeper.

I've NEVER had it fail. Ever.

Free Download:

Also, for songs I still use Kazaa Lite K++ Resurrection Edition

LimeWire ia available in two forms. The Basic Limewire is free and the Pro version which has faster downloads, email tech support and 6 months of upgrades as they come out costs 19.00

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml

They state that they do not bundle any software with their product, but you can read that here:

Wouldn't do that to ya Leloo, BUT
sometimes spyware replaces your normal operating system files. SS will try to repair them but any time your system is completely eaten up with spyware aids, it's best to backup your stuff and do a clean install, then keep SS running from then on out.

For music, check the Music for the Masses thread (http://forum.gsplayers.com/viewthread.php?tid=9092). Tons of good free tracks. I put some up then take them down later. But I have found many just from going to artist’s websites.

What I have up currently is...

Primative - Ambulance LTD. (http://www.zendada.com/music/Primative.mp3)

Somebody Hates You - Snake River Conspiracy (http://www.zendada.com/music/SomebodyHatesYou.mp3)

Tender Crisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch song (http://www.zendada.com/music/Tender.mp3)

We Are Family - Sister Sledge (http://www.zendada.com/music/WeAreFamily.mp3)

X&Y - Coldplay (http://www.zendada.com/music/X&Y.mp3)

Adore - I:Cube from Best Of Côstes (http://www.zendada.com/music/Adore.mp3)

Channel 1 Suite - Zero 7 (http://www.zendada.com/music/Channel1Suite.mp3)

Won't You Join Me for a Drink? - Lemon from Ursadelica (http://www.zendada.com/music/Won'tYouJoinMeforaDrink.mp3)

In The Waiting Line - Zero 7 (http://www.zendada.com/music/InTheWaitingLine.mp3)

Spy Sweeper....AdAware...and Hijackthis do pretty well for me. Torrents are good for music...as well as just getting the files from the bands themselves these days...a lot of promo stuff/actual albums get released. I also use music.yahoo.com for videos.

I found Ambulance LTD. on Sputnik 7 (http://www.sputnik7.com/index-menu.jsp) which also has great Manga vids for free.

WB gave us Fiona Apple’s entire CD once in the Music for the Masses thread. That was gold right there.

That just went over my head... so I'll just click the thing and let it go and see what happens.

The one guy in the world who has not made out to Criminal (http://www.epiccenter.com/epiccenter/clips/mov/1262.mov). I’m guessing Sarah McLaughlin’s Sweet Surrender (http://web3.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp3/Sarah_McLachlan-Sweet_Surrender_(Roni_Size_Mix_V2).mp3) either...

and talk to friends. AIMshare will let you nab music off of other computers if you choose to.

A bad point is you can't do many tasks at once on the same name, so better just to use one buddy at a time if you do this. I let a few people take my stuff while I sleep.

First off, you say that like it's a bad thing.

Secondly, I was balls deep in this bitch once and that stupid fucking Sarah McLaughlin song came on the radio...I felt all emo.

Thirdly, who makes out TO shit? I always thought you made out with someone and jacked off TO things...

Just look for complete albums via torrents. Bitcomet/azureus to d/l them. www.mininova.org etc to search for them.

Adaware and spybot search & destroy (I use both)
