View Full Version : My first grade in law school . . .

I received my first graded assignment today. It was a predictive office memo I turned in a couple weeks ago. Not only did I receive the highest grade in my section but, I also was the example handed out to the entire class of 2008.

. . . Holy . . . shit.

My apologies to those who will think I'm an attention whore. I need to tell someone and I don't think it's appropriate to share that info with my buddies in law school because I would quickly become a "gunner."

I'm still in shock. Now to find motivation for the rest of the semester . . .

Congratulations! I must admit I'm incredibly jealous, I recieve no grades until final tests, I need some sort of gauge from a professor!

Where did you end up going again?

Outstanding, Keller! That honor, alone, should give you the incentive you need to excell for the rest of the semester, and the remainder of your years in higher education! Kudos!

First year law students have a standard curriculum. We have all the same classes and really don't know what kind of law we're practicing until we get our first internship. Even then most people change specialties at some point.

With that said I went to USC to do sports (entertainment) law. I'm working on my first internship with the Chargers for this summer. If that doesn't work out I'll be working for the Lakers. If that doesn't work out . . . well, I guess I'll be a judges bitch.

Congrats on the grade, Keller. I'm a bit nervous about the whole law school thing myself. Is it anything like what's-his-faces book, 1L? Scott Turow, that's him. That book gave me the heeby-jeebies, but I still want to do it, and I still devour public policy books.

I just submitted my application to Georgetown Law yesterday, Early Decision. Cross your fingers, all. Applying for the joint program with their Institute for Public Policy. Decided I didn't want to go to Harvard (Georgetown's just as good, if not better, for the type of law I want to do), and besides, the family is moving to Baltimore, would be nice to be nearby in D.C.

Public Interest law all the way, w00t w00t.

His experiences were a recount of being a Harvard Law student. Loads of pressure from the start. I recall my mom going through her first year and she was at the top of her class by year end. I don't recall it being anything but challenging, demanding, and rewarding all at once. Good luck on your early decision.

I've narrowed it down to Depaul College of Law. I'm getting anxious as hell with all the waiting until I graduate so I can focus all my energies into the application and preparation process. I want it now dammit.

Heh. Hon, my house could be the single cause of global warming! There are candles everywhere and all candles are meant to be burnt. Besides, it seems like everybody needs a candle burning for them at one time or another. ;)
