View Full Version : TWC-Brawling or Edged?

So I'm curious, I'd LIKE to have a dual-wielding sai user...but is that even viable for hunting or is it akin to swinging two toothpicks at your enemies?

The other option, of course is edged. I know either one can be done...but I'm assuming using edged over brawling would yield higher damage to critters while hunting.

Any thoughts?

TWC brawling is probably better for rogues, can put some insane ambush ability behind the whimp DFs. Edge has a wider variety of selection for situational combat that brawling lacks. And its easier to find nice edge weapons, too.

Even though dual sai usage is way hot, I'd probably say go edged.

If I were going to use a TWC Bard, I'd use dual short swords, personally. Sais just suck, with the exception you get off-hand DS bonus for the left handed sai.

That's what I figured.

Just that a female bard twirling around sais in each hand would be dead sexay.

Damn straight. Katars are even hotter (that's what my rogue uses). Also, love for the hiding and ambushing.

edit: so I guess I'm saying both! Of course, that probably isn't an option with bards. I would go with the edged weapons, especially if you're going to be standing in open combat.

I know I could figure this out on my own, but I'm sure someone else already has, plus I don't have access to the game while I'm sitting here at work.

What are the best weapons you can get and still maintain a 4 second Mstrike time?

I know short sword and dagger, but what about fist scythes, long swords, etc?

twc is alright if you have lots of air lore, but if you plan on being in OTF, it's a waste of time. Or rather, being dead is a waste of time.

HAHAHA...those who know me can vouch that I will likely NEVER get a char high enough level to take them to OTF. :D

sai's are ok, but not um... overpowering...

You remove a black vultite sai with a tassel of mist-grey silken strands attached to the pommel from in your black alloy case.

HR>ambush warr l eye
You leap from hiding to attack!
You thrust with a black vultite sai at a plains orc warrior!
AS: +212 vs DS: +39 with AvD: +21 + d100 roll: +14 = +208
... and hit for 33 points of damage!
Attack punctures the eye and connects with something really vital!
A plains orc warrior's face turns upward in a tortured rictus then his body goes slack.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

You leap from hiding to attack!
You thrust with a black vultite sai at a plains orc warrior!
AS: +212 vs DS: +46 with AvD: +21 + d100 roll: +76 = +263
... and hit for 37 points of damage!
Well aimed shot, punctures calf!
The plains orc warrior is stunned!
You thrust with a black vultite sai at a plains orc warrior!
AS: +212 vs DS: +41 with AvD: +21 + d100 roll: +76 = +268
... and hit for 40 points of damage!
Loud *crack* as the plains orc warrior's sternum breaks!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

>attack
You thrust with a black vultite sai at a mangy wild dog!
AS: +212 vs DS: +62 with AvD: +28 + d100 roll: +59 = +237
... and hit for 42 points of damage!
Loud *crack* as the mangy wild dog's sternum breaks!
You thrust with a black vultite sai at a mangy wild dog!
AS: +212 vs DS: +58 with AvD: +28 + d100 roll: +45 = +227
... and hit for 40 points of damage!
Neck skewered, sliding past the throat and spine! That looks painful.

Anything with metal armor kinda stinks, but against critters it rocks, and if you aim for the eye... and are good, you rock.

That was lvl 15, halfling of course, no society, with bards songs and strength...I was one shoting the boars and dogs when I hide and ambushed.
