View Full Version : The Players' Corner Restored

On September 21st, the hosting company had warned of excessive CPU and resource usage being consumed by the forums and had given me 7 days to look into the problem or else lockout the site. The forums had been consuming upwards of 60 percent of total CPU resources, far exceeding the 7 percent it was allocated. I managed to get an extension to resolve the problem, however I was unable to find anyway to cut down on the resources used by the forums without completely erasing all the content. So on October 12th, the forums were shutdown and the account suspended.

Anyhow, thankfully a new host has been found and we are now on a dedicated server. All content should as of now be fully restored. I'd like to extend a very big thanks to Miss X and the staff who helped out for setting up the temporary Players' Corner forum to keep all members connected.

And to all members of the Players' Corner, welcome back!

The board being shut down was great for me. I got so much work done both in the office and at home. It made me realise how much time I waste here.

Many thanks to Kranar for getting our beloved boards back on track, and to Miss X for acting so quickly to get us someplace else to go while we were waiting for the boards to return. :)

I think we need to develop a disaster management program in the case of a natural disaster or something. I'm not sure my system could handle being cut off again.

I also think Miss X deserves HUGE recognition for being the one to set up the temporary PC. She showed real initiative and I'm glad she's in the position she is!

I demand that the ten posts I made on the temp PC be credited to my account :rant:

Kranar is my hero for getting the boards up and going again.

Missx is my heroine for setting up the temp PC for us.

I was able to audit my entire backlog of accounts, back to august, all because PC went down. Damn them for that, thank you for getting it back up. Work can now be fun and broken up by fifteen minutes tours through gemstone related material and idle chat.
