"Master"ful Instruments

I've heard of rumors, almost mythical, about instruments that allow a bard(ess) to "master" beyond "adept" playing skill in the respective instrument's type. Does such exist?

Yes. Well...sorta. You can master an instrument without a instrument of "master" quality, but you will never get the 20th message. You can only get the 20th message playing a master instrument and being a master in that instrument. Make sense?

As an aside, while they aren't common, they aren't mythical. All the call familiar instruments are master quality I am fairly sure.

I never tested my familiar instrument I will try it and count the messages when I get home.

None of the call familiar instruments are of master quality.

Unless they dropped some in after I left, they are really, really rare. I had the only master quality flute and lute that I know of.

S'pose I really should reactivate sometime and give stuff away.
