View Full Version : Did we ever land on the Moon?

I finally saw a tape of that show on Fox that disputed the moon landing ever happeing. It's really entertaining but kind of hard to believe that the govt. could pull a stunt like that. Why would they?
My main question is why haven't we landed on the moon again? The next moon landing isn't scheduled until 2012?

I think the most convincing (I still don't believe it) part of the whole "moon landing scam" is the fact that the flag is waving. I think it's attributed to the air conditioning in the studio where it was filmed that was required to keep the "actors" cool in the space suits. The moon has no atmosphere, so the flag could not be catching any wind or anything that should be making the flag wave like that. That's the only part of the argument for how the moon landing was faked that is odd to me. I still don't believe it was faked.
Regardless, it's still an interesting theory.

We landed on the moon. get a Really freaking powerful telescope you can find the bottom half of the LEMs there.
We have not went back to the moon for one reason: We beat the russians and the American people don;t want to pay for it :(

From here (http://liftoff.msfc.nasa.gov/news/2001/news-moonlanding.asp)...
There's no breeze on the Moon. But then, there's no atmosphere, either. When the astronauts planted the flagpole they twisted it back and forth to sink it into the lunar soil. On the Earth, that would have made the flag "wave" for a few seconds, then stop. But that's because the flag pushes against air as it flaps, and the air slows it down. On the Moon, there was no air to stop the flag's motion, so it continued, just as Newton's First Law of physics says it should. So of course the cloth flag waved and rippled beneath the metal rod holding it out.
Now, it is a NASA website, and they're the supposed perpetrators of this hoax, so make of it what you will :D

Alrighty not only that... but whem the lem took off and the flag looked like ti was getting blown in the wind... the engine has exhaust... you put a flag in space 100 feet behind the space shuttle's engine and watch it flying off in the opposite direction hehe

I totally agree. Setting it up potentially could do that. If you watch the video though, only the bottom corner is waving. The twisting motion would get the whole thing waving. It most likely is attributable to planting the flag, but it's probably the most convincing of the arguments presented - at least to me.
I like in the family guy when they make fun of that and Armstrong bashes some guy with his helmet and drives off with the body.

The flagpole was built by Microcraft, a company we aquired in 1999 and sold in '03. There were still people working there from the time when they were involved in the space program. They were all very proud of the (tiny) role they played in the lunar missions.
America diverted an almost unimaginable portion of our GNP to landing on the moon. Many scientists have written that the race between Kennedy and Khruschev put humans on the moon at least 50 years ahead of when we would have landed based on a natural development of existing technologies.

Am I going to have to axe you in every thread?

In commemoration of "refer to yourself in 3rd person day":
Tromp found that the shadows given off by the astronauts/space crafts to be the most compelling part of the "documentary" (term used loosely). The Sun was in one spot while the shadows were going towards the sun?

And we have a winner.
That ladies and gentlemen is exactly the reason the US has not gone again since.
I would venture that the US percentage of the world economy was also much greater back then than it is now, so you are talking about a much greater percentage of a relatively larger base and it helps explain why we have put off doing it again in the more recent past.

It's likely they were using some sort of additional light source for the photos anyways.

Just for the record, I never stated that the US never landed on the moon. I just opened the topic up for discussion since I saw that movie.
Wezi, it may not be from an airplane but it could be from Japan. :D

Nope, if you'd watched the end of it, you'd know that it was all taken care of. Every last bit.

I don't think he speaks Xyelin. "They" = "The"
Makes for an interesting read.

There's a mirror on the moon that people bounced a laser off of to calculate the speed of light. I'm going to go way out on a limb and guess we didn't just huck mirrors at the moon until one of them stuck.

or maybe, they are just making that up as well. You can set up a mirror in my backyard and bounce a light off it. After all the calculations, if you asked me how fast it was going, I'd just say "wicked"
