Warrior builds

Anyone else play a warrior? I have two of them and I haven't really decided exactly how I distribute my talent points.

I have Corbin, my Human warrior who is a Protection specialist. I mostly use shield block, revenge, and sunder armor - so you can pretty well imagine how my talents are distributed. This character is used as a PvE super-tank for raids and instances.

My new toy is a Dwarven warrior named Sutherland. He is only level 6 at this point because I haven't had much of an opportunity to play him but I plan on making him a dual-wielding axe user. Fury spec.

I just don't know how to distrubute Sutherland's talents to make a really great Fury warrior.

Does anyone have experience in this and can you help me out? :)

I have a fury/arms build myself... it does awesome in PvE and PvP... but it leaves me somewhat lame in a group situation.

I use:

Fury up to death wish (cruelty, booming voice, imp. battle shout, enrage, death wish) with plans to pick up dual wield spec later

Arms up to impale (rend/deflection, tact. mastery, overpower/deepwounds, impale) with plans to pick up sweeping strikes.

I use mostly dual wield because I like my offhand to set up overpower chances for my main hand. Plus if I suddenly go miss/miss/miss, I didn't just waste 10 seconds with a two hander

I do keep a nice two hander on hand for cleave/whirlwind situations, but for 1v1 or 2v1, its two weapons.


The real downside to two weapon is in PvP, because by using lots of smaller blows, you give them much more time to think and respond.

When I enrage, death wish and berserk, I want to land as many blows as I can (+113% damage, I don't want to land killer blows, I want them to see their health start dropping in big chunks to very fast swings)



Just my particular version... I'm sure there are better ways of doing it, this is just the most fun build I've done.

I was thinkinging of using Retaliation and Cleave a great deal if not simply to impress people with Sutherland's ability to kill like 10 mobs at once with a tidal wave of critical hits on multiple targets.

Do you think that sounds feasible using fury/arms? Also, I really don't want him to suck in PvP using two axes... is there any way for a dual wielding fury/arms axe user to improve their PvP outlook?

No no, you'll still be very viable in PvP (dual wield ends up being more DPS than a two hander) and you'll have a lot more versatility and flexibility (if you go miss/miss/miss with two weapon, you only lost 3 seconds.. if you go miss/miss/miss with a two hander, you just lost 8-12 seconds)

You just have much less of a "panic factor" with two weapon.

You could also argue that damage output is lower with AOE abilities (cleave, whirlwind.. etc)... but its not hard to whip out a two hander when in a swarm, and switch back to two weapon when its 1v1 or 2v1.




Cleave is good but somewhat buggy as to where people are placed (for some reason I can cleave two people 180 degrees apart around me, but if they are 90-120 degrees away, it will only hit one... i dunno!)


Also, retaliation got dropped to a max of 15 shots, and it shares reuse with shield wall and recklessness (I think)

I'd rather use recklessness myself.

That bugged me cause it seemed so lucky, so I just had to figure out the odds...

Going with the 6% chance to get the extra hit and I'll give you a 20% chance to crit (seems like a fair median)

Chance of two consective double hits - 1 in 278 (0.35%)
Chance of four consective crits - 1 in 625 (0.16%)

Chance of getting both at the same time:
1 in 173,750 - 0.00057%

God I wish I had that kind of luck.


Edited to say.. I guess if you wanted to get into the nitty gritty numbers here, you would have three oppurtunities within the 4 consective crits to get the 2 consecutive double hits... so the ACTUAL chance of both occuring at the same time is 1 in 57917 (about .0016%) but thats how sad my life is, I care...
