Dateline 10/3/2005: FLETCHING UPGRADES!

The fletching artisan guild skill has had its overhaul tonight. Below are the changes that the system now has.

* Darts can now be fletched using the same process as a crossbow bolt. The MEASURE portion of creation can be done using a complete or store-bought dart in one hand and the dart shaft-in-progress in the other hand.

* Paints, paintsticks, and fletchings can now be made to be any color, instead of the previous limited 24 colors of paint, 6 paintsticks, and about a dozen fletchings.

* You can have as much detail on the finished projectile as you'd like (two different colored stripes, a shaft color, fancy fletchings, fancy arrowhead/cap), but once you reach a certain length in characters, it'll change the item to have a SHOW description.

* Drills are now available at all fletching shops. These items will be used in the OPTIONAL step in the fletching process.

* Arrowheads and caps are now available in the fletching shops as well. These items will transfer their magical nature to the projectile created. Arrowheads can be used on arrows and bolts, requiring first that the shaft be drilled. Caps can fit on bolts and darts and don't require any prior drilling.

* Magical woods are now available in the different fletching shops in Elanthia as well. These items ARE backroom stock, so normal backroom rules apply. These will also transfer to the final projectile, but do not stack with the arrowhead. The larger value takes precedence.

* Master Fletchers that work their craft will notice a small amount of exp when they finish a projectile, providing that the quality is up to par with their skill.

Awesome!

Seems to work fine, except the descriptions are ungodly long. I get the full +25 bonus.

You are holding a wood arrow fletched with plain white feathers and tipped with a vultite broadhead arrowhead in your right hand.

No way! I can't cut villwood and with faewood, I can't get 1 shaft, I get the whole bundle. It was working with faewood, so that I smoothed two shafts, but then my single shafts reverted to rough bundles of shafts. I'm hoping tomorrow it'll be better.

I haven't checked it yet, but I've been looking forward to this. I've asked a GH or GM about the idea of making our own arrow heads since 6 months after the release of GS4. I'm glad someone was listening or had the wisdom to add this in. If there are bugs I hope they are fixed soon

Actually my arrows are 5x blessable. ;)

This is annoying though.

If you cut this now, you won't be able to go back and drill to add an arrowhead later. If you still want to do this, CUT it again within 30 seconds.
>With a few quick cuts, you whittle the end of the shaft down to a perfect taper.
Roundtime: 20 sec.
Roundtime changed to 14 seconds.
Roundtime: 15 sec.
Roundtime changed to 10 seconds.

How ya getting 5x blessable?

Kitsun

You can make mastercrafted faewood arrows. 20 from the wood, 5 from master crafting.

I'm really glad my stock of blessable arrows sold out last month, eeeesh.

I'd wait a few days, Tromp. The release caused oodles and oodles of bugs to crop up. I'd give a week to iron them out.

I should totally take up fletching now it looks cool! to Tilmont for all the hard work and stuff!

Wow, time to start playing my Aelotoi ranger again.

Personalized items = decent gs system. The more systems they allow for self-expression, the better (and more appealing) the game will be IMO.

Tilmont says glyphs should be available... "soon."

...And from actually having witnessed how progress was made on this particular upgrade, I actually believe this sentiment.

Props to the homeslice who masters forging arrowheads! (Assuming you aren't already if you've mastered OHE forging...)

Hmm... I didn't know I could still fail arrows...

You attempt to attach some dark crimson fletchings to the arrow shaft, but as you hold them there, you notice that one is crooked. Unfortunately, the glue is now too dry to remove them and try again, so you discard the fletchings and shaft.
Roundtime: 23 sec.
Roundtime changed to 16 seconds.

Edit:
>cut shaft with my knife
You decide to skip personalizing your ammunition. Hey, if it's good enough for nature, it's good enough for you, eh?

Do you mean to CUT NOCKS in the arrow shaft?
>cut nock in my shaft using knife
What are you trying to cut a nock in?

Silvanostar

If someone can grab an arrowhead and inspect it, that would establish what forging skill it requires, unless the forging system has also been revamped to include non-weapon items. I'm guessing they count as modified daggers.

Has anyone here ever actually made an old-timey arrow? Is this drill stuff legit?

I did the old time fletching 3 years ago and mastered it. Just came back to the game and this new fletching is really odd. i have no idea what is what nor how to get it to do what i want. i'll figure it out in time. easy way to get backroom access to the fletcher shop is to buy 100 bolts/awwors at 1 silver each.
