Just started a new character. Decided to do the Trace for this one.

Is there anything that is a plus and minus about each town. What might be a good one to start what might not be the best?

My entirely correct opinions:

Landing - best.
IMT - ok.
Vaalor - reroll.

Vaalor actually has everything to be a great starting town, all except RP. It's sad that such a town had to take the bite. But you can hunt up till mid teens easily, join COL or Voln, go across the ferry and hunts orcs and slowly into Hunter trolls.

Landing is a hole of all holes, I hate being there.

IMT is good, I'm just so unfamiliar with the hunting grounds.

They all suck.. do icemule at like 7 or 8 though for those snow spectres. I was always a landing brat, but hated it as much as any others... there's always the tower in sol haven for kobs and urghs too.

Landing is always the easiest to start in. Readily availiable empaths / locksmiths / clerics. You can easily hunt to level 10 in under a week hunting rats. Vaalor has rodents, but they don't swarm like rats. Icemule.. I've never started in to be honest. I never liked the town.

I have to disagree. Yes, Vaalor is dumped with all the 'true' newbies that don't know anything, but the experienced players within the town itself are pretty good with the RP. There's lots of events one can get involved with. Within the past month or so of me spending lots of time in Vaalor, I've gotten *several* RPA's and in the Landing, for me anyway, they're harder to come by.

IMT has everything but CoL. Plus IMT has Trevor Dabbings, I think it's like 1.5k experience for listening to his bla bla and answering the questions right.

I like IMT.

Everyone says this, but it takes me over a month to go from 0-10. Yea I can hit 3 in an hour, but 3-5 is about a day at hunting, you lose yer XXX somewhere around 5. So then 6-7 is about a day and a half, and 8 is more than 2 days... So by 9, I'm burned out...

I don't sit in the landing, so I can't say anything there. And RP is there with the few Vaalorian communities around. But the main gathering area is no better than the park/TSC in the landing. Not enough people to teach the new ones how to act, and not enough people other than vaalorians know how to treat a Human(like shit of course, but still).

I dont have the patience to go from 1 - 10 in any other cities except Landing. Old dog. New tricks. Blargh.

So far I have found it is 500 silver to get a guide. Not a bad price. I went to the landing to get a white blade for now. I plan on a white ora but not completely sure.

Being a Paladin I want/need a sancted blade or such.

Also trading back and forth between characters who have old gear like a mithril shield and mithril backsword.

I will see what happens.

It is a new place to learn.. IMT.

They're all talking about scripting, of course. No person in their right mind will stay awake 24 hours for 7 days hunting rats. :)

Just know that if you get caught you'll have to read policy (most people script this too, lol) and promise not to do it again.

Next time ya get caught, ya get a possible 30 day lockout

WL also has the Warrior Raging Thrak.

Does Ta'Vaalor have one of these n00b lecturers?

No unfortunately. There is a newcomers guide. They won't sit still long enough to read it,a nd it is at Silverwood so most never even know it's there to read.
