Jolena got to see it early. From what I heard, it was kickass.

My wife and I give it a Meh+, just not up to my expectations, which were absurdly high, to be perfectly honest. IOOP Joss needs to get in a tag team with some of his TV show subdirectors and rock the world. By himself he's a bit too...raw.
Good movie? Yes.
Good movie for someone who's never seen Firefly? Probably not.
Good movie to maybe get Sci-Fi to pay for a new season? Maybe.

Just came back from it.
I <3 it.
It was funny hearing obvious fans of the show gasp audibly at some of the surprises. Don't want to give away any spoilers for anyone going to go...
Ok, haven’t seen anything about this so I found a trailer.
Serenity (http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/serenity/trailer_2/)
It looks about as good as Chronicals of Riddick, which I liked, so I may check it out.
I want to see A History of Violence (http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/ahistoryofviolence/). Last movie Cronenburg did that I liked was eXistenZ, but this looks decent.
Jar Head (http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/jarhead/large.html) looks good too.

I'm excited about Serenity coming out. I'd never heard of Firefly but then a friend of mine bought the series on DVD. Watched that with him and I've been counting down till the movie for months now. We just watched four episodes of the series in preparation for going to see it tomorrow. I can hardly wait!

That's a good way to look at it, Backlash.
I also, contrary to apparently most people, liked CoR. I think that Serenity was better than CoR, but I didn't particularly like Pitch Black all that much...except near the end...that stuff was pretty cool.
My wife and I absolutely loved Firefly and I think we just set our bar too high for this.
Yeah, I tried Pitch Black, but could not get through the first 30 minutes.
Never saw Firefly.

This movie left me angry, and happy at the same time. Those who see it will understand.....
I really enjoyed it. It confirmed that Jane Cobb is the best character in the series although it made me dislike kailee more. Although if I remeber correctly this isn't supposed to be the end of the story which, without spoiling anything, will make it interesting to see how they can continue the saga.

Accurate description. Just saw it myself. Very good movie, I thought. Girls kicking ass makes me tingle. There's something artistic about it.
River (the chick in the movie) scared me a little, though. :( Not in the BOO! way, but in the "thank god she's not real or I'd probably lock myself in a vault somewhere".

I want one of her! If you see the movie, you'll understand how I mean that too. And no, it's not nashty for you pervs. :bleh:
I just saw it, I've never seen Firefly but I've heard a lot of positive stuff about it. I enjoyed it quite a bit, the people I was with (8 total) ranged from "Really great" to "ok".

I liked it... except for the random and unnecessary Wash death. It's pretty clear by the revenues that the sequel and new show notions are doubtful however.

Sci Fi channel should pick it up just on principle. Its a goddamn Sci Fi show with a bloody fan base.

That's a "Whedon Special," Warriorbird. He just joneses off of the "awww...ahhhh!" factor of him doing generally nothing but normal stuff then being killed needlessly.
Anya in Buffy, Wesley in Angel (so I've been told), Pee Wee Herman in Buffy the movie (heh...gotcha). Anya especially...I mean, I guess he liked the effect killing Tara had on people, but Anya didn't do anything out of the ordinary before she just randomly dies.
I thought it was kind of stupid too, but I imagine the actor wasn't interested in future stuff (as with Book, probably Inara given her lack of doing much of anything).
PS- Speaking of Amber Benson (who played Tara in Buffy), I saw the Sci-Fi suckfest "Dragonstorm" over the weekend and guess who pops out the boobs. Damn...talk about bottom of the barrel, pixelated out boobshot on a C rate Sci-Fi flick.

I loved the series, but I'd rate the movie an "okay, not great."
The deaths were kind of pointless. They spent all this time in the series hinting about Shepherd Book's mysterious past, and then kill him off. That would have filled the "somebody needs to die" quota, but then adding Wash to it seemed kind of pointless.
I liked how they expanded on River's character, though, that was neat. The bad guy was kind of boring, though, and Mr. Universe was kind of dumb. I was hoping they'd use the blue hand crew with the exploding head thingies, but oh well.
In any case, I'm hoping it will at least lead to another movie or the Sci-Fi Channel picking the show up.
By the way, I didn't catch it at the end, but there were three tombstones. One for Book, one for Wash, but I didn't get a clear view of the people on the third. Who was on it?
