Ok, I realize its FARRR too soon to say, but so far I'm having a blast with my 2hander wizard!

I am very suprised at how high his CS is actually. My main is a sorcerer, and if i remember right my sorcerer's CS wasnt much higher than his.
So far the best way to immobilize and kill a target has been to sleep them, then bash their skull open with my claidhmore. Also hurling a stream of acid and stunning them seems to work well too.

Also my AS is as high as pure wizard, and my mana is as high as well. What more could I want?

I don't see this character going any higher than 30 or so, or else I would unfortunately have to agree with Chaddy. Those stats are made for quick enjoyment, not long-term character.
Edited to say I'd agree with Chaddy's attempt to type out what he meant, not that it made sense in a grammar format.

Have some two-handers that have me considering it.
Well Anticor has taken it to it's mid 60s at least. I'm sure it can be done all the way to cap.

Yeah from what I've seen I can make at least 80 no sweat. Should be doable in OTF as well I just might need to upgrade some gear.

I think thanatoph's bowels might actually be pretty easy for Anticor too, so that's low 90s.

Has this changed recently? I remember on my Sorcerer adjusting his stats at like level 30 about 6 months or so ago? Pretty sure he may still even have 2 reassigns left, but youre saying even if I have them...they wont work?
As for my Battle Mage...
Just got him to 6 last night, didnt have much time to mess around as it was late and I had work, but...
1 word: haste. Dear god this rocks...
My AS may only be slightly higher than my foes (which are above my level might I add...) but with a simple cast of haste, I can swing my claidhmore with a 2 second roundtime!
This translates to some serious slaughter action. Beauty of it is, at this level all I need to hunt is a couple shots of haste, so I dont have to worry about mana like other lowby pure casters. If I get bored, I can blast them with a shot of water or acid for 100 spell AS. Course this isnt mana effecient, so I usually stick with hasting so far.
So fun! As for how far it will go, with a reallocation of my stats...I'm still waiting on some advice on this, other than a ranger's stats...
I can see this going to cap, although I dont see myself playing it to cap...but with some creativity, ingenuity, and standard gear for like-level players..I dont see why it wouldnt work....
Think about it...I have the same mana and spell AS as any other wizard. So if swinging doesnt work, I can hunt like a normal pure wizard too? The only thing I'm unsure about is how my defense will be with a 2hander instead of a runestaff...I doubt they will be too much different.
So I stance dance, and hurl bolts when swinging doesnt work...seems pretty versitile to me!

Your DS will suck dramatically, especially the older you get. Throw in the fact you can't offset those hits with redux or plate and you'll have to be careful. Just stay hasted, and when you're able call wind swarms to reduce getting hit, you also might want to shoot for LBP or even Cuirb.

Your DS won't suck as bad as everyone thinks for one reason.... Wizard Shields (919). You don't use mana as your hunting tool only an aid so you have plenty to use and you can cast 919 every minute you're hunting and not feel a strain on your mana pool.
I say go for double leathers(15 ranks) at the minimum (LBP[27 ranks] being ideal), get crit padded leathers. Always have stone skin running.
You'll be fine.

He won't need to either, I didn't start running 919 all the time until The Keen. When I'm in the Skull Temple I don't need to run it for the whole hunt it's just nice to. Keep in mind I've got VHCP armor on so that helps keep the stuns down I'd imagine.

Oh definetly. Mutant characters are always a blast, warmages being the most popular. Hell I even thought about doing it with my wizard, but it wouldn't fit his RP so I scrapped the idea. I did have a pole wielding Cleric a few years ago, but never got him very high.

Anticor is right. You really don't have any DS problems as long as your being smart. I die a lot, but it's because of stupid mistakes. I started a war mage at the beginning of the year and I'm 40k from 50 right now and having a blast. Have fun, make sure you get 27 mje ranks and 24 air lore ranks, and make sure you get 425 asap.

Swinging my claidhemore with a 2 second RT right now...the real fun begins!
My AS is low, and I need to use statues, along with a spell or two from my sorcerer to hunt above my head...but when I get my DS high enough, I can just hack away at full speed.
Taking down swarms is fun...Even though my AS is only 10 or 15 above what I'm hunting, with a claidhemore it doesnt matter ;-)

Question...
You say get 27 MJE ASAP, as of now I about 2.25x in spells...this may mean my minor elemental circle will be lacking for awhile? Its not too big of a deal for me because my sorc is a main, and as long as they continue to hunt in the same area(which they probably wont), he can get spelled from MinE by my sorc.
But it will be nice to be completely self sufficient and spellup myself.

You're probably better off letting Major Elemental or Wizard Base drop back more than Minor Elemental.
Elemental Targetting is a huge boost to your lackluster physical AS.

My war mage didn't start training in wizard circle until i got 27 ranks of mje. I was 1xing mne and mje until i hit that, then started picking up wizard ranks. I wont be able to enchant until later, but oh well, i kill a room full of stuff in the time it takes someone else to swing once.

I wouldn't reccomend that simply because 905.911.913 are all good spells, and 919 is great for swarm clearing or getting out of a jam even if you can't sustain it the whole hunt.
I went 1x 400s and I would .5x the 900s and 500s. The bonus to haste is sweet don't get me wrong but I don't think it's worth sacrificing your class specific circle. I'm a big believer of the "never paint yourself in a corner" school of thinking.

Elemental wave is crap against anything older than you and as a war mage you're gonna get bored hunting like age. I use tremors because it's not age dependant + creatures give themselves RT with their swing so it's the same thing, only more waves, affects mobs that enter after the cast, costs less mana, doesn't fail on older critters, etc.

I thought the same thing. Maybe the person meant 912? 912 is kinda nice, and I use it every once in a while, but just because i like to switch things up so I don't get bored.
I got a question for you though, Anticor. What did you hunt around 50? I'm in bonespear right now and I'm getting kinda tired of getting my weapon blessed/not getting money. I was thinking about heading out to sents or thanatoph soon.

I was in the blighted forest killing black forest ogres and the like from 50-55ish. Just keep the boars knocked down and remember that tremors/ewave doesn't do shit to the vipers and you'll be fine.

117 stuff?
Was just reading about deathstone earrings on the simu forums.
These have MAGE rechargeable 117 in them.
Is this feasible for a nice hunting item when I'm older? I can see...rub ear, lop leg off a slightly older target, or target with high defense...then whack till death, rinse and repeat.
When its out, and I completely forgot this, we are MAGES and can RECHARGE the item! SWEET!
Should I buy one, or would it be better just to charge blue crystals?
Also, I have no idea on how mage recharge works, but someone said in the thread that these earrings are less desireable since mage recharge spell was nerfed. How was it nerfed?
Any info on this would be useful. Thanks.

Don't buy them. Rechargers lose charges over time so if you get one that can hold 40 charges next time you recharge it you might only get 38 in them, etc til they don't hold anything. If I was going to get a 117 item I'd either just charge up blue crystals (2k for a blue crystal) and just carry a bag of them or I'd do alot of saving for a 117 self mana item. If I had the coins I'd get Tsin's self mana 117 axe, just for the spell I wouldn't use it to hunt.
Then it's just a macro of get my axe, rub my axe, stow my axe, kill shit.

um the more you recharge an item, the faster it degrades, if youre going to continue being a warmage you wont have a lot of 500 ranks which the spell is heavily reliant on, and the more charges you put into an item the more likely it is to explode.

By the way, right now I'm train 7, almost 8(havent been playing as much as I'm trying to push my cleric to 25)...
I swing with a 69 AS(claidhmore)...and a 2sc RT. No problems with mana. DS can be tough cant hunt self-spelled yet. I need the help of my Sorcerer's spells and usually a statue to be safe.
The crummy thing is if an orc gets lucky and hits me I only have 45 HP so even a small hit will cause my AS to drop to 58..and orcs DSes are 54 or so in offensive, so this can slow my hunt down significantly. I usually have to end up running back to town for a heal if I get one little nick. This makes me worried about armor...will this be happening at later levels too?

I would say false but without testing I wouldn't say it with 100% confidence. I'm pretty sure all rechargers degrade now which is why self mana items are so desirable.

Nicely done but here are a few things....
1) Signs - Reverse the order in which you macro/script/type them in use swords, smiting, striking. This way if the game is acting stupid and you ge the 1 type ahead line crap your big sign has hit. Same goes for using the defensive ones, put them in order of 20 10 5
2) Kill everything before searching. Unless you're hunting something that decays fast like undead it's better to have a room full of corpses vs you searching one and getting smacked by the three that are alive. Remember you're killing so fast that you'll have plenty of time to loot.

Thanks for the advice...
I have a loop script for swinging so I dont have to keep pressing it myself exactly on time. Built into that script is to loot the corpses as I'm just "put attack %1" and if I dont search them it just tries to hit the dead corpse.
Are you suggesting I modify my script to say "put attack other %1" or something?

Yes, the reason i have no lores is because I'm focusing on spells and things now instead to make leveling easier....
I will be getting air lore so I can get my RT down to 1 second per swing. But you cannot do this until youre 26, have 26 maj elemental ranks and a bunch of air lore, i think its 25 ranks or something...either way its pointless for me to have air lore now.
As for cmans...Fient, Fient and more Fient....according to Anticor, a high 50's weapon wielding wizard, it is THE BEST and most useful cman for us. I have 3 ranks now and I dont think it will really be usefull until 5 ranks, which I think I get at 25 or 30.
After that its up to you as for CMANS, im going to get disarm, like Anticor, as I think that could be useful against critters and players.

27 Mje ranks and 24 air lore ranks bring your RT down. Also, feint is definitely worth the ranks, and disarm helps you not to be disarmed, so good choices.
Now paging Anticor to the thread. You ever try out the rift? I'm anxious to get out there, but at the same time I wanna know if I'm just gonna go out there and get creamed. Heh.

Thanks, I had forgot the exact amounts. Gonna be awhile before I can get those ranks, and before I can work on disarm. Maybe I should pick up one rank now just for shits and giggles heheheh.

Right now I've got 5 feint ranks and I think 1 or 2 disarm ranks. It's impossible for a wizard to max to CMANs. I think I'll be at 5 disarm 4 feint at cap.
