Warded off! just doesn't cut it anymore.

X gesture at Y.
CS: +172 - TD: +172 + CvA: -21 + d100: +32 - +5 == +6
Warded off!
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

It's booooorrrriinng! I tried to suggest it to the official boards but I probably screwed it up. I know some people here are brilliant when it comes to messaging etc.

I was thinking like if the end roll is 99. It would be like, Y barely wards off fury of X's attack

If the end roll is on the negatives. It would say something similar to "You are simply out of Y's league and easily shrugs off your assault."

or Defeats your elemental/spiritual/mental assault. etc.

Anyway.. so I posted it in the official boards.. feedbacked it.. commented on it and told a GM about it who thought it was a great idea.

I agree that it seems like a nice suggestion.

One that could add a little role playing to the ssituation which is now just ooc mathmatics plus seeming at least to not being something that is so daunting to code as to make it take 5+ years to decide on adding or not.

Exactly. Warded off! There's not much roleplay in it.

For example.. If they can do it, if someone is spelled up with guards, and the attacker casts an elemental attack.

X gesture at Y.
CS: +172 - TD: +172 + CvA: -21 + d100: +32 - +5 == +6
The brilliant luminescence around Y shimmers brightly as she easily deflect X's elemental assault.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

Horrible idea. If there were multiple warding failure messages, It would be much harder to tell if my spell was affective or warded off.

I guess I would have to start looking at the endroll to figure it out in my head, but I"m lazy and would NOT like that.

Jesus, you'd have to shift your eyes a few centimeters.
Please no.

Nope, I'm lazy...and I know lots of others are too...hence I dont think people would appreciate it. Well intentioned, but not practical for those looking to kill/hunt fast.

Too lazy to move your eyes? Jesus, you arn't one of those Klaive types are you?

Regardless, I think the idea is awesome. Would add a ton of spice to it all, just as the 702 messaging changed. Great idea.

I would strenuously recommend against messaging for defensive spell activation or for a flag to turn it off. The scroll would reach truly epic proportions.

As for new messages, I don't know if it's logical to have different degrees of warding. It seems to me it's not possible for our characters to know how close they came to defeating a monster's unseen defenses.

How would the scroll reach epic proportions? There doesn't need to be a paragraph long message stating "You suck, use a heavy quartz orb loser". I like the idea of Shalla's concept, something short and sweet, with different messaging to reflect the different spheres. One line, something longer than "Warded off" would suffice. It doesn't have to be like an illusion rep.

Warded off!

Something like that.

Ah, I thought you simply meant the warding messaging only. I don't see why all active spells would flare up in defense during a warding, they're already in effect. Just seems redundant for constant reminds of their protection.

Sounds like a scripter to me! so it would be a lil harder to script/afk script a caster..Boo Hoo...

To stay on topic Great idea shalla! This would be neat to see in game.

Well, if I hadn't bumped this thread the last time, it would have been lost in the move. I am not keen on taking chances with the boards being so new.

Anyone know the specific reason why this link and a few others allow me to slip past the Firewall, but most don't?

I would guess the https instead of an http.

You're likely right, but I still need this link. You people should try it to see if you cannot slip past your firewalls at work onto the official site.
