So...betting intrigues me, and the potential to make money. Anyone crunched the numbers on this? Its basically craps, no? Seems to me the odds on the slayer losing are 18.3 to 17.7, while the payout is even. Is there a max bet on the table?

I cannot fathom a long term system to beat DB, with the added dragon rolls the odds are worse than craps.

Dragonbones is a pure money sink. You'll have better luck buying mystery boxes than winning long term at DB

Well...I went in for the analysis...the slayer vs the dragon thing. Do I have the rules right? Slayer rolls the fly, 7 or 11, he wins, 2,3,12 he loses. If he rolls anything else, he has to keep rolling until he rolls it again to win, 7 he loses.
Payout on slayer vs dragon is even.
Your odds of rolling 7/11 on the fly is 8/36s, 2,3,12 is 4/36...
The other numbers:
Number Chance And before a 7
4 3/36 1/3
5 4/36 2/5
6 5/36 5/11
8 5/36 5/11
9 4/26 2/5
10 3/36 1/3
Put it all together, odds are 17.7:18.3...
So, if ya bet on the dragon, payout is even, but its better than 1:1 odds. I have this right?

You're missing the four dragon rolls, which I think are just random events?

I've always been successful in Dragonbones, and I'm no math genius or numers runner. Just have to know when to bet and when not to.

In the rundown of the game I read, I didn't hear about these. I heard there were special side bets, called dragon bets, but if you didn't bet on them, they were irrelevant I thought.
Ardwen, care to share?
The instructions I supplied Janarth are from a few years back... 1998 to be exact. So if the game has evolved then we're going to need more current instructions/descriptions.
Anyone know if the game has evolved and if so, where an up to date clip of the instructions are? I believe that those of that document were off of the sign thats in the wagon from one of my first forays into the realm of Dbones.

The special dragon rolls (breath, blood, whatever) are akin to zero/double zero in roulette. They are losers for all bets (belly, spine, etc) except for bets placed directly on the special.

So...anytime the Slayer rolls the dice, it can be a cominbation of the two dice (2-12) OR a dragon roll. What happens if there is a dragon roll in the middle of the Slayer trying to roll the quarry?

I believe the special is paid off, and there's a new slayer? I'm just guessing since when Blood is rolled, all the silver on the table goes to the person betting that, so there wouldn't be any bets left for or against the slayer.
Could be entirely wrong though. I've only played it twice, and the first time was seven years ago.

Tell that to Jadah's player.
I've never seen anyone gain that much silver out of any other game.

<< What happens if there is a dragon roll in the middle of the Slayer trying to roll the quarry? >>
Per the rules:
"If ANY of the Dragon Bets hit, the Slayer retains the bones, AND the next roll will be a Fly Out Roll."
So all bets except the dragon bet are lost anytime a dragon roll shows.
Overall the odds are much worse than Las Vegas and the best odds you can hope for in a RL casino are 1.4% against you, which are the line/come bets. DB does not even pay fully on the 'odds' bets, because you cannot let the odds bet 'work' (be active on a flyout, by default they are 'off' unless you know to tell the dealer your odds 'work' ) which means you get less for your odds bet on a fly out.
Any short-term big wins are always offset by the losers. Khaladon is not shy about posting how much silver he removes from the game each time he runs DB.

Slayer only changes on a draon strike, a 7 after the flyout or if the slayer is unable to continue, ie. Ninmah kills them.
Largest single roll win I have seen is 64 million silver on a master
Largest nights win was 118 million silvers
Blueland won 3 masters in one night at a pay event with a very small crowd.
Seen Maws in excess of 500 million silver.

you know it seems to me when I play DB that you bet on the one thats 7 to hit all the time when its hot and stop before IT does, and you'll come out better than even...anyone whos played DB knows that one bet hits like 8x's in a row and then misses a few..

Also spent like 35 million on the chance to hit it. I'm glad he did, though. Ballsy move.
