This is a script I made for Stormfront.

It has information for almost 1,000 merchants. It'll highlight the names in a bright orange color, if you want, otherwise it can give you information on the specific merchant.

Like this:

>.merchants b
[Script merchants is running, Esc to cancel, Shift-Esc to pause]
*
* Merchants that begin with the letter B:
*
* Baara, Bakart, Baker, Baile, Baliehai, Balouga, Balth, Banek, Barlardi, Bartagar, Baszhan
*
* Baxterax, Bealina, Bego, Begonia, Bekythorne, Belalora, Belarania, Belarino, Belleturin
*
* Bemm, Benison, Bentirose, Berabikind, Berand, Bernaud, Bilger, Bilious, Bindi, Bitlan
*
* Blaggenboul, Blamo, Blarth, Blastin, Blays, Blickish, Blindi, Boboh, Boggle, Bone
*
* Boogals, Boogles, Borgof, Boothby, Bourk, Breide, Breighton, Brienne, Brelli
*
* Brillyan, Brilyan, Brista, Broglar, Bukythorne
*
[script done]
>.merchants blays
[Script merchants is running, Esc to cancel, Shift-Esc to pause]
*
* Merchant Name: Blays
*
* Events: Revel of the Anfelt
*
* Workplace:
*
* Information: "I'se can make even ugly beards beauti-fur-us!"

Now, it isn't done because they haven't put up this year's Ebon Gate info yet, but I'm moving across the country and wanted to get it out there before I moved.

What I'm hoping you all will do with it is highlight the names I have, and sort your highlight names according to content and compare my names with your names.

I have a bunch of names that I found spelled two different ways, and I used both of them to be on the safe side.

If one of your PC's is highlighted, let me know so I can remove them.

I guess that's all for right now. This is my first time doing something like this, so I hope it works.

Ha, this looks pretty good. I'll have to give it a try when I get home.

Can you search for any merchants currently online?

I'm not much of a merchant whore though, but if I come across a merchant, I'll usually wait.

Typically its easier to have all your known merchants highlighted and do a WHO FULL rather than try to have a script run a find on a thousand names.

While I COULD do it (It'd just be find/replacing one section of it from ECHO to PUT FIND)...that would be horrible horrible screen scroll and I'm not smart enough to figure a way around it.

WHO FULL does work much better.

I'm trying to figure out a way to make everyone happy with the highlighting colors by giving you a choice other than orange. I'm not really sure how to set the variables. I move cross-country on Friday, so hopefully I'll figure that out and they will release this year's Ebon Gate info so I can update it before I'm without a computer until December.

If someone could tell me how to script it so it would be, like,

If you want THIS color, type purple
If you want THIS color, type blue

and the script would input that color's number into the ADDTOHIGHLIGHTNAMES string without me having to list them for each color.

Bah, I just confused myself.

Figured it out!

There. You now have TWELVE differnt colors to pick between.

I still think orange is best!

Annnnd it's too big to upload here. Boo!

Okay. The first one is the highlighting crap, and the second one is the info about each merchant crap.

Use each one separately, or put them both together. Hopefully this will work.

Sorry for the stupid question but where is the script located? I thought it was posted here before but it looks like the original poster edited it out.

Thanks,
Chris

Weird. I haven't touched this thread.

Again, first one highlights/deletes the highlights in an assortment of TEN different colors!

And the second will bring up information on the merchant.

Use them separately or paste them together.

Highlighting WILL take a minute.

Maybe try this?

I noticed that it needed some tweaking in the beginning.

To do the highlight thing, use .merchant (enter) COLOR (enter) then wait a bunch.

On short notice, for those who are using WIZARD FE, I've got my .nam list.

LOG OUT OF THE GAME.

Goto c:/program files/simu/wizard/gemstone
Look for CHARACTERNAME.nam file
EDIT in notepad

add all of these to the bottom of your list. They'll be very very noticable, if you use a black background.

What ever happened to the script that tells you about the merchants?
