I've recently begun spending a lot of time in Ta'Vaalor, and I've noticed something that's often rather annoying. For those not familiar with the town, the main gathering spot is Victory Court.

I like Ta'Vaalor because even though there's a LOT of poorly named newbie characters and a lot of clueless newbies running around, there's still a lot of characters that RP and have depth. That being said, there's also a lot of PRO's that are active. Sitting in VC, I've noticed a LOT of people will be "Healing courtesy of" SuchandSuch group, or "Picking courtesy of" or "Casting spells courtesy of" or whatever. I have NO problem with that - it's great! However, is it REALLY necessary that EVERY TIME you heal someone, cast a spell, pick a box, whatever that you announce that you're doing it courtesy of whatever group you're in?

Argh.

Sometimes I announce that I'm doing it courtesy of Jayvn just because it's funny to hear em all the time.

What if murderers did that? Like Asshat1 kills Asshat2

Asshat1 says, "Murder Courtesy of Asshat1."

There are the Crimson Ravens and the two moron's collection of PRO's in Vaalor. That's really it. Let's not go to Vaalor. It is a silly place.

I really ought to visit Ta'Vaalor, I hear it's a newbie comedy goldmine.

I just posted a thread about this. Ta'Vaalor seems like the old Landing.

A number of Illistim PRO's also have members there, and they also go "Courtesy of..."

I don't mind it for mass spells and raising the dead (both are infrequent enough events, and don't always have to happen in VC), but the rest...eh.

Of course, people say these things for healing, picking, and raising in order to indicate that they also don't want a tip. (well, that's how I always interpreted it.)

They could always flag accepting tips it is alot easier then telling someone or trying to run them down to return a tip.

The "Courtesy of..." things don't remind me of this, but the influx of newbies into Vaalor generally does remind me of the AOL days.

I agree with that. I think they do that also, though I'm really just guessing at this point. (Heh, I take tips unless it's a close friend...fits Kembal a bit, since he was born under the Rat constellation.)

There was that one healer who would ACT out wearing a sign. I remember one being something along the lines of "So-and-so Super Puffy". That was entertaining. Actually, maiming him for it was more entertaining. Oh well.

I'm not sure if the references to Ta'Vaalor being like the "old" Wehnimer's Landing are good or bad, but, I certainly find it more enjoyable and pleasant than the current Landing.

I think of Ta'Vaalor like the landing when the rush of AOL throw aways were there with no place else to go, everyone genned there. I'm not in Ta'Vaalor a lot, and when I am it's in VC which is quite busy.
