I tried playing SL for about... an hour and a half. I thought it was semi-retarded... the whole point of GS is that it's a fantasy world where you can do things you'll NEVER be able to do IRL, like cast an implosion. There's nothing you can do in SL that you couldn't aspire to do IRL, except fly.
The cool thing was how infinitely customizable the avatars were. I think I spent a good forty-five minutes just refining the way my char looked.

I’m hooked. It is fully customizable from your avatar to objects with scripts to buildings and vehicles.
If anyone plays, I’m Zendada Sholokhov. Below is a pic. I made the pyramid hat with sparkles and the shades... The stock avatar itself has been modified by me.

It was WAY too laggy for me. I tried it for a couple of days and going from one place to another was so slow I nearly cried. Yes, the customizing of avatars is intense, however.. having to pay for genitals killed it for me slowly. :D

having to pay for genitals Second Life, clearly, is not worth living.
lol. It is definitely not for the impatient. From what I understand everyone experiences the lag. Its just very resource heavy. But when you can upload textures, I’d imagine it would have to be.
I’m hooked because it is the only on-line place, let alone graphic, that I know of that is user content driven.

What's the point of this game?

Haha, I didn't get as far as having to pay for genitals. Please explain.

Well I just fired it up, other than making a dumb ass looking character(which HJ's engine looks great for this), it was so chopping(and WoW is NOT here) I quit

It's a graphic intensive chat room, basically. Design your own avatar ANY way you'd like, make money, buy clothes and home. It's like life only... slower. :D

I spent an hour making my avatar last night, and I'm still doing it

it's fun. try stagecoach island, it's based off of the second life platform: (ie part of second life minus the lag). There's some planned expansion of that world, and it's fun to play. (see, lots of shopping, skydiving, flying around)

I moved forwards and nothing happened for like 10 seconds. When it recovered I was in a river or something.
Fun.

Okay, just for curiosity's sake - I signed up.
The customization options are virtually endless. I found myself spending almost 5 minutes pondering breast bouyancy and seperation.
About 2 minutes into actually playing, I was ready to quit. The movement is very hard for me to get used to.
Then I ran into a few other people. Making friends in SL is easy. I've already been offered a job as a party host and two offers to be an 'escort.' Its more complex than I had thought it would be.
I'll let you more later as I progress.
move ment is kind of tough to get used too. people are willing to help you out if you ask. i think after my first hour in the game i had alot of free outfits and what not. i can help you out if you need. some of the clubs seem to have alot of lag other areas are not as bad.
