Braveheart... because I didn't get to live during that time period when war was physical and not machines, I watched it 3 times one day, we would quote it while in Afghanistan to pass time. It's a great bloodlust building movie. Not to mention the music score kicks ass.
Right now its Kung-fu Hustle. I’ve watched it 4 times since I bought it.
Its kung-fu extreme.
Fav chars: Axe Gang Boss is too cool. Landlady with her cig hanging out of her mouth no matter what. Noodle Maker/Spear Guy. The Two Blind Musical Assassins.

Ok well this depends on genre :
Comedy: Empire Records ....the story line is great ...good cast ...funny as hell ...
Action: Man on Fire ...probably one of the few action movies that portray revenge as bitter and sweet as that .(come on c4 up a guys ass now thats vengence)
Drame: The Cure ..not a well know movie but shows how children dont care about things like disease and such when it comes to helping a friend ..when I worked at Blockbuster Video I use to bet girls that there b/f or husband would cry like a girl at the end and Id say i won just about every bet ...good movie heart ripper tho at the end

There's something about Flashdance...
Terribly silly movie, but I just love it.
I like Titanic a lot, too. It's so gorgeous I can get lost in it.
Aliens and T2 for great sci-fi/horror action.

Right now its Lord of War and Constantine. Lord of War for the guns. Constantine for the religion.
Other favs that wont change.
Anime: Darkside Blues.
SciFi: Fifth Element.
History: Russian Ark.
Military: Black Hawk Down.
Religious: Tarot Dorado Del Zar.
That is a list I must check out.
Seen Fifth, which I liked for the most part, but not my all time fav which is Blade Runner. (Leloo Dallas, Multipass!)
Seen Blackhawk, but Apocalypse Now beats it. Come to think of it, so does Full Metal Jacket.
I will go and get Contantine post haste.

Constantine has its dumb FX moments and slow parts as far as plot goes but I love the spiritual theory and the character Keanu Reeves plays so much I'm hooked.

Blackhawk down was really good... I liked their rendition of minstrel boy as well .. I actually fixed the truck of one of the rangers from that group, he knew a few of the people that were seriously involved in the incident, said they casted the movie really well in comparison to the actual people.

I guess, but if you read their 1st hand accounts in from the interviews he did for the book/movie they kind of just picked and chose and mixed up the people to make it more interesting. Not that thats uncommon. It's still a fun/cool movie.

There's a whole list of them for me.
Right now I'll say Sleepers, because well orchestrated revenge is sweet.

Princess Bride. My best friend and I used to be able to quote the entire movie. I don't know why, but it stuck and made me laugh...and still does.
Another movie I watch to cheer myself up is Blues Brothers. It works every time...

The movie is awesome. Also, when the guys grow up, most of the actors they chose for the roles are extremely hot.

I second this movie as my favourite, almost for the same reasons as Jayvn.
I also prefer 'Gods and Generals', and 'Gettysburg', simply because they bring some of my favourite Civil War characters to life.
On that note, does anyone else know of any 'good' Civil War movies? The only other well known one I've seen is 'Glory', which is also very good. Please, inform me if you have!

Mine is an odd list but here goes.
Shawshank Redemption : Because its a kick ass movie and it never gets old for me to watch it.
Top Gun: Wins the award for best volleyball scene in a movie ever ;)
And Steel Magnolias: Because I'm a southern girl, and the people in that movie, and some situations remind me too much of myself and I am convinced that when I am older I will be Weezer, and my best friend Sarah is gonna be Clarie, and the world just isnt ready for that.

When I originally read the novella to Shawshank it blew my mind. It was one of those "sit there and stare for a few seconds afterwards" stories.

I never tire of that book. Stephen King is amazing.
The professor in my writing class openly sneered when I named King as my favorite writer. Later she asked us to bring in a paragraph we felt was an example of brilliant writing. I brought in the opening paragraph of 'The Body' and it blew everybody away. The professor was shocked when she learned that King had written it.

Hell yeah, that movie always makes just sit there and stare for a moment in thought.
[Top Gun: Wins the award for best volleyball scene in a movie ever ;)
I knew there was a reason I like you. Anyone that looks that good playing volleyball should be bottled up and marketed for a fair price. YUM.
As for my other faves:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The usual suspects, Heat, Good Fellas, Scarface, The Fifth Element, Princess Bride, The first knight, Pretty Woman (A name..a name..oh the pressure of a name! Oh! I got it! Cinder-fuckin-rella! :D ) , Collateral, Man under fire, Training Day, When a man loves a woman (makes me cry every f'in time damnit-- too close to my heart), City of Angels (another tear jerker), American Wedding (the scene with the pubic hair shavings just makes me cry with laughter), Bill Cosby as Himself and FINALLY Meet Joe Black.
I'd have to say that The usual suspects is my favorite of all time though, coming in close second would be Heat. I'm a sucker for Deniro movies. :)

Gone With the Wind- And other Civil War Movies. I love that period in time. Doing my family tree I discovered my great great Great grandpa and grandma had 13 kids, 6 of the boys fought in the Civil War for the South. Not all made it. There are some interesting stories that I am writing a book about on that.
The Breakfast Club- Absolutely the best hilarious movie.
Braveheart- Again near and dear to my heart for family reasons.
Gladiator- Just a cool movie that I can watch over and over.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy- Loved all the characters. Loved the fantasy and the location is sooo beautiful.
Finding Nemo (I love Dory)- It's just sooooo cute and Ellen is so funny. Love it. Another movie I can watch over and over.

Nemo struck me as a really downbeat movie, especially for a 'kids' movie..it was like... something bad happens..(normal cartoon insert something good balances it out), nope not with nemo, something else bad happens that makes you forget the first bad thing, it was like a string of bad luck that ended happyily, but it rocked

This is incredibly difficult for me.
Scent of a Woman -- I fall in love with Al Pacino in this movie EVERY damn time.
The Dark Crystal
Army of Darkness
tie between Last of the Mohicans and Brotherhood of the Wolf for a period film. Braveheart is too long, and I've seen it too many times.

To just say one movie would be horrible.
Fight Club is a personal favorite. Communism at it's finest!
The 1st Matrix
The Fugative
Mallrats
American History X
Full Metal Jacket
Speed
All the Lethal Weapons and Die Hards.
Man... I can go on forever!
The LoTR series as well

My boyfriend is like the great great grand nephew of Stonewall Jackson. Imagine when I found that out. Heh.
Add another one:
Tombstone -- all about Val Kilmer in this movie. Everyone else can just go away.
"You know... Stephen Foster -- oh Suzanna, the Campton Races... you know... Steven Stinkin' Foster!"
"Yes, well...this happens to be Enocta."
"En which?"
"You know... Fredrick Fuckin' Chopan."
Gets me every time. Every time.

Someone named Gone With the Wind, I liked that movie because it followed the book so well. (Many scenes taken right from the book.)
Someone also said mallrats, that movie cracked me up.
I can't think of favorites though..there are way too many.
The best romance movie I have ever seen is The Notebook. The husband was so sweet, it makes me cry everytime I watch it. To think someone could love someone that much is amazing.

Aliens, The Naked Gun, Excalibur, LoTR trilogy, The Matrix, Batman Begins (ninjas+batman, who wouldn't love it?), Predator, Terminator, Dawn of the Dead (the original, although I did like the 'remake' as well), Airplane, Super Troopers, Dumb and Dumber, Equilibrium, Star Wars (3, 4, 5, and 6) . . . just a small slice of my dvd collection. Guess I'm just a typical guy, action movies and comedies.

Comedy: Best in Show "How much do you think I can bench-press?"
Drama: Garden State -- if you need anything more than Portman's character you can rely on the fact it was the creation of one 20 year old. It doesn't get much more impressive than that.
Horror: Shrek -- I still have nightmares of fucking ogres riding singing donkeys.
Spike Lee Joint: Bamboozled -- I've seen it about 15 times now and I still don't know how to react. Plus Mos Def has a large part which is always enjoyable.
