I volunteer every week for JA. Last semester was my 1st. I had an AP Economics class which was a blast because they really seemed interested in discussing topics. This semester I'm at the same high school but working with a "normal" economics class. Nothing wrong with it accept you can hear crickets in their minds.

Anyway I'm discussing residential real estate investing with them with the theme being buy a house whilst in college and rent the rooms out to other students thus helping you pay your mortgage etc... rather then rent an apartment. Just something simple.

I'd love some input on some "constructive" topics to try to stir their interest in skills other then hanging out or nintendo. Anyone care to give their input?

yeah, talk to them about how playing nintendo all the time = living on the streets.. :D

Seriously, some classes are duds, best thing to do is find the one or two students who are "into" it, and use them as a sounding board/build offa what they are talking about.

There's a reason people are in AP classes, it's because they're focused. Everyone else just "has" to take it.

However, if you want one approach, try to find out what everyone "enjoys", and go from there.
