Due to land within the next 5 minutes...
I hope everything turns out ok.

Damn! We seem to be up to our elbows in potential disasters right now. A candle is lit for those on the airplane. :(

Just saw the picture of the landing gear...it is perpendicular to the normal direction. That's a really odd thing to happen.
I doubt this will really be that big of a problem in the end, nosegear failures are uncommon, but not as bad as left or right rear gear failures...but I can't imagine the absolute terror anyone who's been on that plane for HOURS flying in circles is feeling like.
They aren't going to have to pay to fly JetBlue for a while...talk about perk city.

heh, and the airbus hasn't been around for that long, either.
edited to add, Oh Aerobus. Duh. NEVER MIND. :spaz:

The worst part of this whole thing is that the media has allllll this time to get into Freakout Mode Omicron about this (like with a hurricane) so now everyone on the ground is probably freaking out about their family on the plane..hell...they've got attorneys, former NTSB chairmen, circus jugglers, and probably they'll find where Guilanni is and get him on there since this plane was going to NY.
If they could have just dumped fuel and landed in an hour or so...this wouldn't even be in the cycle anymore, like that military plane a couple weeks back.

The crew should be promoted to Admiral(s)

OK...I think the media collectively shit their pants when that giant ball of fire occurred. I was sure I was going to see a "tape delay" box appear.
Everyone better buy stock in whomever makes the landing gear struts on that sucker...holy crap...I can't believe it didn't snap off.

My husband works for a Landing gear company, they do work for boeing. Good bet they made what just caught fire.
Amazing landing.

yeah, i'm very impressed.
at first thought, i was like, oh fuck, i'm flying to ft lauderdale via jet blue next weekend, then i got to thinking, shit, i'm glad jet blue, they have pilots who can fly (or land in this case)
great to see it not turn into a huge negative PR thing for jet blue, love their airline.
also, that plane was weirding me out today at work, i saw it flying around catalina over and over and thought i was just going crazy

I think it is sad how many die due to cars and no one gives a shit. Problems with planes don't happen as often so all of a sudden the people on the plane are getting candles lit for them and people praying for them while someone is hit by a drunk driver and is not given a second thought.
I'm guilty of it as well though, I said a few words for them.

When a plane crash happens, it is usually a mass loss of life. It is also fairly rare and is therefore a more newsworthy story.
I don't think people believe loss of life via car is less important or less worthy of a candle or thought. People are doing a good thing by lighting a candle and other things. Let's not try to uncover some secret maliciousness or downside to it. We should have more respect for the sanctity of life than that.

You're an idiot.
Some of us are able to show compassion for people that die, regardless of mode.

If you compare the number of innocent people who die every day to those in the crash.....does not even compare.
And I was not pointing at anyone. I just think it's sad for those who don't die on a plane.
Don't make it bigger then it is or try and change my words.

I dont need to change your words.

Obviously a falsehood. People do give a shit. It is the death that is sad, not the means of death (although obviously some means of death invoke more intense feelings than others). But to say no-one gives a shit about people who die on the roads is just stupid.
Why dont you go test your theory out...?

It's just like when celeb's die. Big big deal when others go without notice. Not anyone's fault here. :::shrug::: I'm not attacking anyone here, get over it.

I was really impressed with the landing, how smooth he made that. I was playing WoW when my fiance kept yelling at me to come over and watch a plane crash. We were surprised the landing gear didn't break off. I'm glad all turned out well.
