Ok I just thought I'd consult the wise minds on PC before I actually went to a doctors office....

I have at times, especially when I was writing an essay or something that was truly stressing me out, had my eyes start to unfocus, I guess you could say, and go all black around the edges until I thought I was going to pass out. I just chalked up to stress and blamed the teachers.

Now this has also happened when I was just on GS, everything would just seem far away and it was hard to read and such. Here's the thing that made me post... Today we were at the car dealer getting my car and all of the sudden my eyes were like getting "Swimmy", if you can picture that.. like imagine how oil looks on water, well it was like strands of that on the edges of my eyes. Needless to say, it was hard to see.

So then we stopped in at the mall and I just started getting a really bad headache and sharp little pains around my forehead and eye area. My mom thought it was just cause I had low blood sugar because I hadn't had anything to eat yet. So... we ate and I still have a headache, my eyes are still slightly off. Is it just from not eating and stress or should I be worried? Anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like it's stress related.

Exercise will take care of it, most likely. No joke. Exercise is a great natural stress reliever.

I sorta had the same problem. My opthamologist said it was eye strain and there is really nothing to do for it.
He reccomended using eye drops such as visene... and when my eyes start to get weird on me to focus on something really far away, to relax the muscles that are used for focusing in on things close.

Hope that helps!

I get migraines occasionally that sound like what you are experiencing. I'd go see a doctor, especially if they came on suddenly. You don't want to be driving and not able to focus.

I can always tell when I'm going to get on, because I see "spots" of white light at the edges of my vision (think like its snowing, but its not). Only thing that EVER makes me feel better is closing my eyes and going somewhere quiet.

Luckily I only get them once, or twice a year.

Where's The Edine? The PC's very own Optimologist?

It's a bit better now after I took some tylenol and just relaxed. But if this makes sense, they're sort of sore...

By all means, go see the eye doctor.

Write down a list of all symptoms and just as importantly, when and where they happened. This way you don't forget to mention what could turn out to be important. If it ends up the cause is not your eyes themselves, the doctor might be able to refer you to someone else based on what you tell him.

See.. I'm scared of eye doctors. Or anything going into my eyes. I've always had 20/20 vision, I never head to deal with it.

leloo it can be a variety of things... from ocular migraines<type of migraine that only effects your eyes>... eye strain is not a issue the headaches will be caused by that but beyond that no... You having the issue while writing or reading means your probably hyperopic... farsighted.... but it can be a variety of other things... now you said a "swim effect" is it a haze towards the peripheral of your vision? or your vision throughout?... what is your family history? glaucoma.. retinal detachments... do you currently wear glasses? <reading issue could be caused by your power being to strong\weak depending on type of rx..

give me a bit more info and i can help you out and tell you where to go

did not read the last post... what you are going to need to do is go to a optometrist and tell him in short what is going on with your eyes... if money is a issue go to a Wal-Mart OD they are privately run and not employed by the great devil. your insurance will most likely not cover your visit unless you have eye coverage... and don’t worry they wont touch your eyes the worst thing they will do is blow a little air in them when checking the pressures...unless there is a problem nothing to do with touching will occur

if you have any questions ill be glad to answer them I know just about everything or like to think I do

I have never worn eye glasses, I can read basically anything with no problem, large or small. I used to spend hours and hours reading books in dim light and never had a problem. My grandma and aunt have glaucoma. No one in my immediate family wears glasses, we all have 20/20 vision.

When my eyes get bad it's not just that I can barely see, I feel like I'm going to pass out. We were at the mall and I had to clutch to a handrail for stairs because I thought I was going to fall down them. My head aches and if I stand it moves to the back of my head and I get that rush of dizziness and feel like I will pass out.

I can go months and months without any eye problems at all. But within those months, I can at times have perfect eyesight but pounding headaches that again, make me feel like I may pass out.

The swim affect varies.. It can be just around the outsides but also almost like strands going through the middle. In todays case, I had simply been sitting in the car dealer, not reading a thing and my eye sight just started going all weird.
