So I went home yesterday for my grandmother's 90th b-day/family reunion and scored an old scanner from my wife's parents. Unfortunately they didn't have the manual or the software. I went to canon's site and got the drivers installed. But now what? Do I need some other software or what?

It is the Canon CanoScan FB 620U. I went into control panel -> Printers/Scanners and I have very limited options on the CanoScan.

It says it's offline but I've got it plugged into the outlet and the computer. Any suggestions?

One review I read said it came with this:

"It comes with good software- Textbrige Plus, Adobe Photodeluxe Home Edition 3.0, ScanGear CS-U, and Toolbox CS."

Try looking for those? I read the toolbox being mentioned in another site as well so peek around for that and the scangear at least.

Whatever you do, do NOT scan in a picture of yourself holding a calculus book.

I believe it can do that and/or use some third party software also.

That would be awesome. But it doesn't like me for some reason.
