Self-defense. They dismissed the charges about three days after the incident. When the guy was still in intensive care. Eight people saw what happened. The guy's family didn't want to bring charges, and the DA didn't have a foot to stand on.

I was at a gallery that had the misfortune of being neighbors with a diner of some sort. I don't know exactly what was happening, but there were a ton of maggots that migrated from the dumpster onto a nearby sidewalk. That was pretty fucking gross..

However, nothing beat's my time in the OR.

I worked for 3 years in video production (for the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor). Big medical system and all that, and on occasion, we would shoot the odd new surgical technique or whatever that the doctor was developing.. Nothing beat seeing a vein removed from a patients leg, it was being used to replace another vein,or something like that. (the person was suffering from diabetes, and poor circulation). I missed it, but the person's toe was amputated not 4 feet away.

Next to that, watching video of countless eye surgeries. That was probably the most disturbing, especially because they could not anesthitize the patient.

blood/guts/death don't really bother me...if I thought it would be fun, I'd become a nurse. Bodily functions...I have three younger siblings and worked at a nursing home so that does not bother me.

So probably what made me cringe the most is the act of child abuse, animal abuse comes in close at second place.
