Wow. I guess if I ever decide to buy some silver, I shouldn't do anything short of meeting with the seller face-to-face :wow:

Well there's a couple things to learn from that.

One of the first is to read the entire listing.
There are reputable sources to get coins, some wanna-be, no-name trying to make a website ain't one of them.
That Simu Monkey site has been trying hard to claw their way into some kind of spotlight and is just really missing the mark.

Personally when I do buy silvers it's always through the GS auction site. I know who I am dealing with and I trust them. But thanks for the heads up Electrawn.

You can buy from GSAuctions if you want to overpay, but you can easily find people on here who you know are trustworthy and pay 3/4 the price.

Or you can buy from someone using paypal and then reverse the payment a few weeks later claiming it was identity fraud. Paypal's a chump, they'll reverse it for you.

Or you can not buy them, make a skinner, and go to town.

Speaking of reversals, Paypal reversed that $900.00 on me about a month ago, and just now they replaced it. Not like I was out, I take my dough out of there immediately, I had 40 bucks in it. Kaeynne, when you gonna sell me the armor?

Yeah I'd usually buy from a person I've at least known a while or something, or gsauctions if I needed it seriously... But why would you buy that big of a lump in one go? How many people in gs do you know HAVE 400 mil to sell...and of those few people I'm sure everyone would know about it if that much were up for sale at once.

Ok gang, as the one running GS4.net I'd like to chime in on this.

First, the auction was a 400 million silver auction ad. It states so in the auction. It's only an ad. No one is going to sell 400 million silver for 0.01 cent. It just isnt done.

Second, all silvers are sold (quite often) through gs4.net as mentioned in the auction. The bidder was very demanding and rude both before AND after the auction. They were told BEFORE the auction that it's just an ad, and after bidding just wanted to try to steal 400 million through ebay.

It's really sad that this happened. It bothers me every day I look at my feedback with that jerk's flaming red post.

It's worth noting with the direction that this thread is going that I have several very satisfied customers who have bought things from me off of GS4.Net and also several other registered users who have sold their items there.

As for clawing, I'm spending about 1500.00/month in advertising to promote growth, yes. It's not worth making a site and having people come together to sell great items if no one knows about it.

Is it worth it? Probably not. But as an avid player for 10+ years I've always wanted to be an active part of the GS community in a better way than just hawking stuff on the amunet. Now that I'm able, I intend to make gs4.net a "little ebay" for GS players.
I think it's heading in the right direction.

At any rate, I've said my piece. I read these boards pretty often now so U2U me or reply if you have any questions about the auction, feedback, or the idiot that tried to bilk me out of 400 mil.

Also, if you have any recommendations for GS4.net I'd like to hear those too. Growth is based on a villiage, and GS is my villiage.

For the record, it is extremely rare for me to make open commentary against anyone. After all, if I can defend Teeoncy, I have extreme restraint in commentary. That said...

First, the auction was a 400 million silver auction ad.

I'll skip the rest...If EBay was for ads, they would be called ads, not auctions. For reference to the policy, see my original post. I put it in BOLD.

Besides pissing off EBay (which is not getting Final Value seller Fees), and other sellers (Powersellers like the company I work for.), you could bring GS into legal quandry.

What if said person took that .01 auction to small claims court against you and Simutronics? Can you imagine all the legal issues to sort out? Likely after such an episode...selling coins/items/characters for $ would be an enforced no.

As for clawing, I'm spending about 1500.00/month in advertising to promote growth, yes. It's not worth making a site and having people come together to sell great items if no one knows about it.

Lets review the business plan here...spending 1500 a month to sell property you legally do not own or have the right to resell or have the right of first sale to...is just foolhardy.

Besides the short term, when you look at the long term economics of Simutronics against the Hero's Journey investment and ROI, I'd rather buy Enron stock.

Finally, the trademark issue of using gs4.net for commercial purposes. Considering Gemstone is trademarked... (http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=toc&state=pku2pk.1.1&p_search=searchss &p_L=50&BackReference=&p_plural=yes&p_s_PARA1=&p_t agrepl%7E%3A=PARA1%24LD&expr=PARA1+AND+PARA2&p_s_P ARA2=simutronics&p_tagrepl%7E%3A=PARA2%24OW&p_op_A LL=AND&a_default=search&a_search=Submit+Query&a_se arch=Submit+Query) I don't use any ads on gs4.org. While the likelyhood of a lawsuit is slim, your pants are still around your ankles.

I say your friend is an idiot. Only an asshole, knowing that wasn't a real auction, whether is was legit or not, would try to get something out of him. Go get a job or something, because you've entirely too much time on your hands.

MMORPG battles in court never hold ground. Was it a few years ago someone sued some guy for not giving him a sword he bought in an online game? The case was dismissed and the guy was out money... I believe later that month the guy killed the guy who never gave him the weapon...

And Plenty of people advertise using EBay. I can't tell you how many times I see jewerly stores and gaming shops advertising and so on. I don't think they are gonna crack down on the one person in the GemStone IV list, compared to the 9000 some odd that do it every day...

Odd that you'd be carrying this out so far if you weren't involved. One might think you were...In any case, ads on ebay are a dime a dozen, and the traffic is astounding from both GS players and non GS players. I can't think of a better "pay" ad system offhand.

Besides pissing off EBay (which is not getting Final Value seller Fees), and other sellers (Powersellers like the company I work for.), you could bring GS into legal quandry.

Also odd is your concern with ebay reaping a Final Value Seller Fee. What concern is it to you if eBay (whom had no problem with the auction) collects .40 cents or 0.01 cent?

What if said person took that .01 auction to small claims court against you and Simutronics? Can you imagine all the legal issues to sort out? Likely after such an episode...selling coins/items/characters for $ would be an enforced no.

Honestly no, I can't imagine someone going to court and handing the judge a copy of the auction for "absolutely nothing at all" as is stated in the auction.
Or for that matter going to court and telling the judge that they thought they had won $6400.00 worth of product for 0.01 cent and not having the judge laugh them out of the courtroom, seeing as the auction was very completely laid out AND....this is important>>The bidder was notified both before and after the auction that it was an ad for GS4.net. Nothing more. They simply chose to try to flex some ebay muscle and having failed, left some scalding feedback.

But yes, if it went to court it might be interesting. I'd be willing to see it through if it did come to that.

Lets review the business plan here...spending 1500 a month to sell property you legally do not own or have the right to resell or have the right of first sale to...is just foolhardy.

Business plan? Approx 600 people play GS4 at most. Of that 600, it would take every single one of them buying things that I am selling, not other members, only me, and spending $1.60 each just to pay for the internet line on the machine. (T1 - 960/month).

The point is that there is no business plan here. I'm not out to make a million and settle down in the Hamptons. Who can do that with a customer base of 600?
It's not possible.

I'm simply a guy with a love of the game that happens to have the means to take it further than some others have.
It's pure enjoyment.

Besides the short term, when you look at the long term economics of Simutronics against the Hero's Journey investment and ROI, I'd rather buy Enron stock.

I know, GS4 is going to hell in a handbasket. They'll probably be out of business by next week.
Seriously, they're making 240/month off me alone. There are lots of others like me. I don't think GS is going anywhere any time soon.

But if it does, it won't be the end of the world. Like I've said many times, I'm doing it for the fun and I happen to have a decent income so it's not bothering me at all spending a few bucks on my hobby.

I'm well aware of trademark issues. However, being as Simu has had multiple opportunities to purchase GS4.net in the past and hasn't jumped at any of them (one being a measly 14.00) I don't think there'll be a problem there.
Also, the free publicity/advertising isnt hurting their customer base either, you can bet.

I'm not entirely sure where you were intending on going with this. If you're trying to drum up anti-gs4.net support, I'm sure you'll find some that feel like you do. And that's fine. Criticism is humbling. We could all use some from time to time.

If you're just voicing your opinion after bidding 0.01 cent on an auction for 6k worth of product, and I'm not saying you are, but if you were, then that's fine too.
We all see what tkwyckoff did, and what tkwyckoff got. Also, the person hasn't actually PAID for the auction either, so a non-payer's complaint could be filed.

If you're just bored and wanted to see if you could stir some stuff, good luck to ya.
You never know what floats some people's boats. It's a craaaazy world out there. See ya in the funny papers.

some imflass full plate - 20,000,000 silvers
Your careful inspection of some imflass full plate allows you to conclude that it is plate armor that covers the torso, arms, legs, neck, and head. You determine that you could wear the plate around your chest.

Active Players: 775

I know that 9 of those are me...How many other people have more than one char logged in at once?

I'm pretty sure that 600ish covers it.

Well are you counting Platinum? I'll bet the majority of players don't multi-account either. And are you figuring in that people don't play EXACTLY THE SAME TIME AS YOU? No? Because I doubt those 700 are the same people I play with during my peak hours (which happen to clock in at the 400-500 mark). Either way, you me or anyone bar someone with sufficient billing info knows squat about exactly how many people play GS. One thing I do know though, that it's more than 600. Hell, I'd bet theres over 1000 active GS accounts right not.

Either way, wtf do Simu care whether or not some rich nut job with no life and too much free time is playing GS over 9 people with one account each? Your $12.99 is as good as theirs. And when the end comes, hell, they won't have wasted so many hard earned bucks and time on such a pointless endevour.

You're absolutely right. They won't care one bit, however, don't confuse me with a rich man. I'm certainly not. I just have good enough sense to earn a good living and not buy hummers and 500k homes. That leaves me with an ample amount of "play money".

On topic, I sincerely hope there's over 1000 active accounts. The more accunts there are the longer I get to play.
And I do loves my GS!

Someone didn't read the shop sign. I use price to keep track of enchanting pours/enchant counts.

so 20,000,000 would be Second pour of a 3x to 4x project.
