For starters, there is an incredible amount about that man that you cannot possible imagine and that I myself will never know.

I train with Dr. Gyi regularly. First let me state that he is one of the greatest martial artists the world has ever known.
Nobody debates this, Ever.

As for the question of Doc's war record. There is a plethora of information on the internet nowadays about what a "phony" he is. You should know that nearly all of this information is posted by one of two men. Both are former students of Doc who have various reasons for leaving and reasons for their scorn against him, which I will not go into here. One of them is Marty Kufus and the other is a man named Frank (his last name escapes me at the moment)

I'm not going to comment on their reasons for resigning from the ABA (American Bando Association) because both cases are personal; but you should know that these men are scorned individuals who have reason to strike at Doc.

Now for the merits of their arguments. I can't really give you proof online because none of it is online. Unfortunately Kufus and Frank have littered the internet with anti-Gyi rhetoric and people automatically assume "If it's on the internet, it must be true!" It would be amusing if it wasn’t so sad.

But having personally spent time with the man, I just have a few questions for you.

(Not Martial Arts related, because there simply is no question to his martial arts skill. Not even Kufus or Frank question his amazing skills)

I have seen many pictures of Doc with various world leaders over the years. Presidents... Russian premiers... pretty much every political big rig for the past 30 years. I'd love to know why you think he is constantly in contact with the decision makers in the world.

Or explain to me why he was moved to Washington DC and given a cushy diplomatic job. After Burma fell to the socialists, the OSS (predecessor to the CIA) moved him to the US. They gave him a new name, new birth date, social security number etc.

Or explain to me why Doc is regularly honored by veterans groups. You cannot imagine how many groups honor him… it’s unbelievable.

The specific “stories” which have been posted online by one of the two men I spoke of earlier were just that… stories. Doc is a teacher of politics and communications (he spoke eleven languages fluently at one point) as well as martial arts. He knows how to get the most out of his students. I’m not defending him by saying that not ALL of his “war stories” are true, but rather they were told privately to his students to accomplish a specific goal. The man is far more intelligent than me (or you) so I won’t even speculate as to his motives.

At any rate, I'm done for now I think. But XTC, you should consider not talking shit about something you know ABSOLUTLY nothing about
