Basically, this band is having a concert (which will air online) in which a terminally ill fan wants to kill himself during the show. A judge made an order against them, but I think they're going to do it anyway.
The fan is saying he's promoting his right to die beliefs.
I think it's pretty sick. I mean, don't get me wrong...I totally support the right to die. If you're terminally ill, suffering and nothing can be done to help you...yeah, I think you should be able to pass on in comfort and peace. But to have it broadcast on the internet? What the hell???
Your thoughts?

I'd like to go out in a good way, on top of my game as it were, though I think that way (above) is pretty selfish, as I know for a fact, as a regular concert goer, I would NOT want to see a fan die in front of me.

Self-imposed darwinism.
edit: I hope they all get tazered. Even the suicide guy.

The band should all do jail time, and I do not mean like a month, if they follow through with this after being told specificaly not to.

Well Florida law (where the concert is supposed to be taking place) says that assisting a suicide can bring charges against you of possibly 15 years in jail....so that's what they'll probably charge the band with.

Agreed. I fucking hate these shock tactic bands, trying desperately to make up for a distinct lack of talent.

It's just publicity in the worst way. It's totally disgusting that someone would want to make a statement like that, assisted suicide is not something to publicize and say it's a right..:sigh:

Agreed. I never heard of the band before.
I feel bad for the guy who wants to kill himself...I think for him to want to do it in this fashion might hint at some form of depression (and understandably so, I mean he is sick and dying.) but the band....they don't care about anything other than getting themselves exposure. They probably could care less about the man and his plight. I hope a good lawyer can find a way of making this a federal crime since it's going to be on the internet...and can slap some serious jail time on them..along with some hefty fines...so they're broke and in jail.

That's florida for you.
God, this place sucks.
Not even any snow.

Yeah. That is SICK. I'm all for assisted suicide in the cases of some. I support this guy's right to die if he wants to die. But... I do not support him inflicting that on everyone else at the concert. If he wants the music in the background, fine... have him sit at home, with the internet connection on, playing the concert.
I do NOT think it's okay to force other people to watch when they just came for the music. I don't know about this band, what kind of music they play, what their regular concerts are like, et cetera. But what if someone brings their kid? I fully expect to bring my kids with me to some carefully selected concerts, when I feel they're old enough. If I brought my kid to a concert, expecting it to be the normal thing, and some guy commited suicide up on stage while my kid was watching... well... I'd be REALLY pissed.
Hell, even if it was just me and I went to the concert and saw that, I'd still be pissed.

I do not know if the band could be legally charged with assisting a suicide, in this case, since they will have no real hand in the actual "doing of the deed". Perhaps, they could be charged with failing to report knowledge of an intended suicide, but I do not know if that is even a crime.
What they plan is in poor taste, to say the least. I would think the owners of whatever place the concert is to be held would have more sense than to let this take place. I guess we will have to wait and see.

well the knowledge is out now, so they probably can't get them on failing to report it... how about failing at life?

I doubt the band would let something like this. Just a stunt to get attention and then on the night of the concert they'll back out of it.
They should learn to play their instruments.
Florida indeed. You know you're bad when you get an individual tag on Fark.com

It may be a publicity stunt but it's already backfired in one respect. Six out of seven out of state venues they were going to play at canceled them according to one report. Too bad it wasn't unanimous.
