Anyone see the trailer for this yet?

Thoughts...

Comes out on the 30th...possibly a good Sci-fi?

Someone's gonna have to explain to me what the big deal is with this beacuse I don't get it. Sure it looks cool and I'll wind up seeing it, but I know some people that are fawning over it like it's this legendary thing. What is the history behind this that has people drooling over it?

I have no idea yet...I just watched the trailer and it does seem to be appealing to the eye, but I don't know the plot or storyline really. They keep pushing that it is from the creator of Buffy and Angel, but so?

I hope it's not another Chronicles of Riddick. Loved the movie for its special effects and ideas, but I can't watch Vin Diesel talk without wanting to kill myself.

It's based off a series that Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy and Angel, made. There's like 16 episodes out there. If you watch them and like it, I imagine you'll like the movie.

Serenity is the follow up to the Fox show Firefly. Firefly was a fantastic sci-fi that fox of all channels cancled waaaaay too early. There was a small very rabid following that petitioned other channels to pick up the show and run with it to no avail. Joss Wheadan <sp?> decided to wrap up the rest of the storyline with a movie.

I really enjoyed Firefly, and am looking forward to this movie.

Yeah firefly was a very cool show, based in the future but had a big old west feel to it. Serenity was the name of the ship on the show and the movies based on the crew.

Mike and I loved the series, and, like most of the people who were lucky enough to see it, were really sorry it ended. (Ok, we weren't cool enough to see it when it aired, but thank you Netflix!)

As far as I'm concerned, if Joss Whedon's name is on something it is going to be intelligent, witty, and of high quality. I'm really looking forward to the movie and seeing where the stories go to. Within a very short lifespan, Firefly gave us a bunch of characters we really cared about, and we're dying to find out what happens to them.

I never get 'rabid' about movies, and have never seen a much anticipated flick on the day it opens, but I admit to looking forward to this one. Still won't see it the first day (I hate crowded theaters) but I'm sure we'll catch it sooner rather than later.

Speaking of movies... Mike and i went to see 'Redeye' on Monday. We went at an off time, and when we got there we were the only ones in the theater. When the string of pre-movie commercials started, a group of 4 people came in. We were the only other people in the place when they arrived. They chose seats directly in front of us, so that we could either move or have part of the screen blocked by their heads.

There were lots of other seats, so we just moved, no real big deal. It struck me as a bit rude, though.

When I go to a movie, I try to sit two rows in front of other people, so as not to block their view. Does anybody else do this, or was it perfectly normal to sit right in front of the only other people in the place?

Lance Armstrong sits wherever the hell he wants and you can just GET USED TO IT!!! :livestrong:

Serenity looks pretty cool. Aeon Flux looks *awful*, but I might still be sour about Reign.

ROFLMAO. Ok, THAT totally cracked me up!
Upon serious reflection, I mist admit that if it'd been Lance plopping down in front of me I'd have stayed where I was and dribbled popcorn kernels down the back of his shirt instead of watching the movie.

I'd grab Sheryl Crows breasts and run.

I am totally stoaked for this movie to come out. I found Firefly on DVD long after it was cancelled and totally fell in love with it and I was never really a Buffy fan. Can't wait.

I've always looked at it as a need to feel close to another human being when there is no one else around, or some crazy shit like that.

On a realer note... I'd like to ask, on behalf of the International Committee of People With Fully Functioning Brains, that the morons who insist on sitting directly in front of you with 198 other empty seats in the theatre, just don't. A simple rquest. KK, I feel your pain and have felt it many a time. I have no problem with getting up and moving to a more comfortable location when someone with a non-functioning brain does the described. It's annoying to say the least but hey, why let someone ruin your movie going experience. That's no fun.

They were aired on WB or Fox until Whedon got dropped and then later picked up by the Sci Fi channel and concluded.

I get up and move when people do that.

I think this movie looks entertaining --- Aeon Flux live action movie looks totally shitty and they really should have gone the "soldier" route and not let Charlize speak so freaking much.

The people sitting right in front in an empty theatre is bizarro. I'd never do that. I have moved before when people do that. Though it's never happened to me in an empty theatre, just partially filled ones.
