Remember hearing that rumor about 10 years ago that there would be a Doom movie? Well, finally just saw the trailer to it. Rock is playing as the Marine, but still not sure he's up to the task. Overall, not sure if it will be good, but it looks extremely Resident Evil like.

Rock isn't actually the Marine, but the Marine's officer, from what I heard.

Who in blue hell is the Marine then? He going to even make an appearance in the movie or be a main character?

It's gonna blow.

Some fellow named Karl Urban. A fair portion of it is supposedly first person shooter style from his eyes.

Yeah I just replayed the trailer and the weapon called The Rock "Sarge", so that could work. A bit of a Judge Dredd rip off, but eh, okay.

Blow? Depends what you're looking for. I hope the movie isn't deep storyline and just is a jump at you, kill lots of monsters action fest. It's what the games where and anything less would be an injustice to the series.

Doom 3 was an injustice to the series. It was a good game, it just wasn't a Doom game. Regardless, I dispise cash in movies (Terminator 3, Fantastic 4 etc etc) simply because the studio's will create them without any regard for artistic or creative merit KNOWING that people will go and see them.

Doom 3 was a product of its enviroment. If they made a game with massive amounts of monsters, quick gameplay, and the like, they would have had to sacrifice on graphics so badly that no one would purchase it. Unfortunately, FPS games have gotten this trend that they need awesome visuals to survive. All Doom could do was adapt.

Gah.. I just read some more information on it. Stray is right. It will be awful. This movie apparantly has nothing to do with "Hell" or any monsters coming from said "Hell"

I disagree. Massive death and destruction is easily doable. The myriad of FPS's that are thriving online are a testimony to that.

God, I just watched that trailer. Yes it will blow for many, many reasons. The FPS style of it looks so bad... like a sort of 3D ride thing you'd get at Disneyland or something. They've lifted sound effects from Predator and numerous lines from genre classics such as Alien and Aliens. The CGI looks godauwful as well.

I'm just blaming shitty screen resolution, computer monitors, and unfinished film for this. I've been waiting for this movie too damn long.

Karl Urban as the marine? This might give him a chance to show his "stuff"...if he has any.

I recall him from both, The Bourne Supremacy, The Chronicles of Riddick, and LOTR...he was...ok.

Eh I think if you take movies for what they're meant to be then you can have a better time watching them, Doom looks like a fun movie to me. Not oscar worthy, but fun.

The non-hell bit is annoying, but I'll wait till more of the movie can be reviewed.

Well it's following Doom 3, which was based on mars and a scientist raising demons from hell, The monsters from the trailer look like the ones in the game so it'll probably be around the same idea.

wish they based it off the Doom books, and early games, rather than doom 3. it would probably be a lot better
