>look and
You see Androg the Soldier.
He appears to be a Human from Vornavis.
He appears to be very young and tall. He has piercing grey-green eyes and tanned skin. He has shoulder length, flowing black hair tied into a loose ponytail with a simple leather hair-tie. He has a square-jawed face and broad shoulders.
Despite no apparent injuries, he seems to be DEAD!
He is holding a blued and gilded vultite longsword in his right hand and a blued and gilded vultite longsword in his left hand.
He is wearing a silver-bladed dagger medallion, a black regal griffin insignia, some crossed black leather back-sheaths, a sapphire storm griffin cloakpin, a highly-polished trim black leather longcoat, a silver-edged onyx rose pin, a silver-edged onyx black silk waistcoat, some dull black chain, some fingerless black gloves, a carved onyx wedding band, a thin leather sword belt with a brushed steel buckle, a lapis-set engraved onyx dagger sheath, an onyx-inlaid black leather thigh-sheath, an onyx-inlaid black leather scabbard, a black belt pouch, some sleek onyx black hide trousers, some chain-clasped tall black vruul hide boots, and a gold ring.
The ghost of Androg whispers, "I gotta wait 30 mins before i can decay,...have 0 blood."
The ghostly voice of Androg asks, "This voln?"
Androg has the last of his life force drained from him!
* Androg drops dead at your feet!
You have a foreboding sense of darkness enveloping your soul as you realize Androg has died while both of you are still soul linked! You can sense the tugging of Androg's soul clinging on to life, pulling you headlong into the long dark. It takes every ounce of spiritual energy you have to sever the link and claw yourself back to the world of the living! You feel empty and torpid, unable to focus your spiritual self.
What is thought when I talked to another cleric is that he was COL. So he screwed my cleric for raising for awhile because he probably did Sign of Hopelessness.
If you read these board thanks a f'ing lot for the loss of raising for a time.
Least you could have done is RP it a little more.
This is minus all the hell going around. Though I did ask him if he wanted a raise.
He said yes and would take care of whatever.

I don't get it. When did you raise him?

He went from being dead to...being more dead.

You can only use sign of hopelessness when dead. Don't accuse him of being an asshole -- nobody would intentionally spirit death themselves after being raised. He probably did something stupid that I've done in the past: get up to 2 spirit then use sign of healing. It's pretty obviously a mistake.

You can only use sign of hopelessness when dead.
Since when? You've been able to use it while alive as far back as I can remember.

Since less than a year ago. It only works in non-sancts* while dead, so you can decay through LK.
* This might have changed.

I specifically asked him if he wanted to be raised. He said yes but... as you see he had 0 Health which he would have 1 when raised or better.
I raised him and immediately on being raised the following happened. Someone had unstuned us both. Since it was very confusing I obviously didnt cut and past well.
Androg has the last of his life force drained from him!
* Androg drops dead at your feet!
Immediately upon when he was unstunned.
So he knew I was raising him. He agreed to be raised. Then killed himself somehow. "Sign of Hopelessness" is what one other person suggested.

Can it still be used when alive?

It was probably sign of healing like Bob said.
You could always track the guy down and ask.

I think its just as likely as whoever said he used sign of healing without thinking. He had no health so it makes sense.

I'm going to agree with bob too, that's the most likely reason. Heck, just highlight his name and ask him next time you see him. If he doesn't RP you asking him... kill him. and If he does RP it and says it was intentional (instead of RPing it like wasn't malicious) kill him.
That way you can find out if it was a mistake, and if it wasn't you get to kill him.

I definately want to find out for sure. Damn frustrating in the middle of an invasion and suddenly for an hour or more you cannot help by raising.

No.

That's stupid. They should have just modified the DEPART verb to disregard LK.

I am so tempted to do exactly this to a certain notorious vulturing cleric the next time I stop on by The Landing

You don't even need a COL master to do it if you want to screw a jerk cleric... just start a lowbie, die, and as soon as you're rezzed climb the tree and jump.
That'll do the trick, right?
Even though it was frustrating to have to wait, I'm in the camp that agrees that he didn't purposely kill himself right after he was raised. He could have tried any of his signs and since they take spirit and he was just raised... then he's dead again.

Yeah, but you might just get stunned and then the link will wear off... Which will look weird as you keep frantically attempting to climb back up the tree and jump off. Plus you have to think about the fact that if you do want to withdraw around 50k in coins, that it's just too much of a pain assuming you get a high rank wound on a limb, instead (long-stun). And can't even stand up... So...

What Bob said...
Since you raised him with zero health, he did the only thing he knew to do in order to ensure he had enough blood to survive through the stun.
Did you assess his wounds beforehand? Were they crits or bleeders... if bleeders did you tend? If tended how well? Did you relate any of this to him prior to raising?
I bet a little communication in this instance, and a clear log of what happend, would help prevent this from happing in the future. :!:

Term, create a new character with a 20 con and str, do not train in physical training... you won't live off a jump of the treehouse (if you don't think you're heavy enough there is plenty of junk you could find to load up on, non-coin). This way you don't have to use a deed on a good character.

Ganelon you might want to check my first post
"Despite no apparent injuries, he seems to be DEAD! "
He was HEALED of everything but his health points apparently.
second the message before his death was
"Androg has the last of his life force drained from him! "
Which is not a from everything I have seen over time bleeding to death.

I don't think I had injuries when I did it. I just thought, "Hey, I'm in CoL, I have 2 spirit, I can use sign of healing."
* Bobmuhthol was just lost to the demonic.
It kind of sucked, but I'm sure that's the same thing this guy did (and was failsafed by GSIV death mechanics).

I've seen two different people do that to themselves with sign of healing right after being raised. Not that unusual. But really stupid.
Like someone said, maybe the guy didn't realize he gets at least 1 HP when raised, didn't check, and panicked. I have people tell me all the time not to raise them cause they have neg HP.

Demonic was a reason not to intentionally decay. Demonic was a damn good reason to keep deeds. Demonic was a reason you might quit.

I dunno; if you enjoy advancing your character at all, the new system is a good incentive to keep deeds.
That's not to say it doesn't disproportionately whack certain groups/fighting styles with what it penalizes, both level and profession wise, but given the choice, I'd much rather spirit death with deeds or be raised by a cleric with deeds than without, even with my empath, who is a 111 and 1106 hunter.

Some people who have never played a cleric, and if he did go into a panic he probably didn't realize he was screwing you over. The best thing to do is politely explain the process to him.
Sometimes people are very clueless.

I never liked the idea of Falgrin having to do good 'deeds' in order to not go demonic. Falgrin would have rather of kissed a dirt elf than to drop shiny gems on the ground for someone to take from him.
I like the way it is now.
