My bard is 4'2" and kills things with a dwarven chest-ripper. Fear the beared, sometimes drunk, rarely happy bard. He's only lvl 10 because I have this thing about letting my dwarf get to lvl 12-15 and trying something new but I think he's gonna stay a bard it's a fun profession for me thus far. I'll post his stuff in a bit and piggy back this thread for improvements.

I know the stats aren't the greatest but I just wanted a fast hunter and needed points to get the training I wanted. He hunts good but I could probably improve his stats and skill set with advice from someone that's had a bard for awhile IE SP or Makkah.

I really don't think there is a standard now. I'll have to wait and see what changes and other bullshit Simu decides to throw at the profession before I decide what I'M gonna do, let alone give other people advice on something that doesn't exist yet.

He picks well (could use a few more ranks of disarm), I went the minor elemental route to get Unlock, Disarm, & E-wave (which has helped my hunting quite a bit in emergencies).

Heh. I had a little dwarven bard, as well. Many is the time I had people look at me and say: "A dwarven bard? Whatever were you thinking?"

Well, when re-allocation came around, i re-did my bard so that he would be a great sword swinging and loresinging bard, but only as a temporary thing.. he is well rolled intill 40ish-70ish, at which time, his stuff will all break down for the most part.

Since we are putting up stats, let me show you my pure picking GSIII bard.

Name: Picking Bard Race: Dark Elf Profession: Bard (shown as: Bard)

Health: 58
Mana: 90

He can manage any box 15 and under. -80 scarabs and -210 locks. I wanted him to be mana heavy for purification, the lores, unlock/disarm if need be, and for magic item creation.

I have not even tried to pick all day, but two or three lvl 15 boxes gets him to fresh and clear.

Now if you want to talk about roles thats another thing altogether. This actually works for my dark-elf bard. More the prankster /trickster type than sonnet singer.

She's actually very good as a hunter. My human is even better.

I don't really know if they are the standard, but I certainly tweaked a lot during reallocation, and will probably do so a few more times when I get to GS4.

All I know is my human is a great hunter right now, and hopefully will continue to be that way throughout..;)

This is a good place to ask this it looks like...
When I come back when GSIV goes live, one of the characters I was going to start on my reactivated account was a racist bard. I'd train him to 10-15 or so then use him to sing songs, probably in TSC, about what absolute garbage all the races he wasn't are. Assuming he'd die a lot (He will) but also assuming I may want to keep him viable if I decide I really like the profession and want to develope my first try at a bard, how should I train him and what do you recommend for beginning race/stats? He'll stay an asshole his entire life and continue to look down on and make his views known verbally whenever it seems appropriate to anyone not of his race. I'd like to fit in some pickpocketing too if possible.
I'm thinking giantman with lots of physical training points to boost defense and blood for the early deed losing years.
Is it too early to call on his "plan" with GSIV coming up?

Human, elven or dark elven are the best racists.

They might be the best racists but giants will always be the best race.

Try not to hate.

Edit to add:

Interesting side note my dwarven bard makes racist songs about dark elves. He can't stand them always claims they smell of dark mana. You'll know him if youi hear him, he grumbles on about their acidic smell like copper being smelted. Damn dirty dark elves.

Agreed, mechanically, Giants are the best race I'd have to say.
