buying OHE HCW and FGB will trade with ohb obo ttm
wtf?
It gets even worse than that. First there's the dropping of punctuation, now the shortening of words to just a few letters. Is really that hard just to type out a few words?

There's nothing wrong with acronyms. Our military uses more than you'll ever hear about just because it makes things easier to identify quickly than reading out the drawn out titles for everything. If it saves space on my screen, without scrolling like some sellers do with their 1000 thoughts hasted, then it doesn't bother me.

I'll have to agree somewhat. Some acronyms just make absolutely no sense. TTM? It's short for "Think to me," but if a person actually says them both, there's no shortening at all. It's just a shortcut for a typer.
Other shortcuts actually make sense, like FGB. Much shorter to say that than "forest green brigandine."
Still, it depends on the usage of shortcuts. If every other word a person thinks is an acronym, then I just see them as lazy. Personal opinion, of course, to which there are always exceptions.

The question in my mind is ... are these people typing or talking? In the real world, how many times do you say the acronyms like BRB, LOL, TTYL, and so on.
If you're in game and you're thinking things like, "Selling blah blah, VLA, bw, 4#" that's just lazy AND OOC.
I avoid it when I can because I feel its bad roleplaying. My only exceptions are the ones we use when speaking in RL like "k" instead of 1,000. And MB, CB, and 2x instead of 2 times enchanted.

I'll agree, some acronyms are acceptable but I am also in the frame of mind to try and keep things in character. For the most part anyway. A little dab will do you.

If the acronyms are on psinet no problem.
If they are on the amunet they should be reduced to the bare minimum in my opinion and the actual words used instead.

Eh. They're lame... but not necessarily out of character.
The black net has declined so tremendously that I don't think it is that much of a problem.

But that has more to due with lowered expectations than an improved atmosphere.

I never use them.
When selling on the net, I would either write the words out in full for silvers or use "600,000 silvers".
I didn't do this because I'm way against acronyms though. I've read of people who will not bid on items if someone uses 600k MB, CB, TTM etc.

Not really. Player shops pretty much dealt it the death knell and it is much quieter.

Heh, I use acronyms such as 30K, lbs, CB and MB. I will however type out that it has a small pocket, holds a large amount, and to think to me or drop me a thought.
