Does anyone know of any good torrent search sites?

I haven't used torrents in a long time, and the last time I did, Supernova.org was still around. Now that it's gone, I dunno which sites have taken its place. Anyone have a list of good torrent search sites?

Also, the client I use is Azureus. But sometimes the download speeds I get are absolutely terrible. I've tried Shareaza, but that hogged all my bandwidth. Any better clients out there?

I downloaded something using Azureus. It was around 700 megs, and it came in a .tar file. I used WinRar to unpack it, and inside was 48 .rar files. Each one of those .rar's has the same three files in it. When I extract the video file from one of them, it gives me an .avi that's 675mb big, but is only 3 minutes long and is only a gray screen with no sound at all.

Corrupt download? Or am I doing something wrong?

To be honest, I don't even know what a torrent is. However, I go to a website called www.boxtorrents.com to download anime OST, video game OST, and full anime movies/episodes themselves.

In particular, I downloaded "Xenosaga" the animation, which is a must for anyone that's a fan of the Xenosaga series.

It uses the client 'BitTorrent', which has worked wonderfully for me.

They should. You have to take all of the RARs and basically combine them into one. I've never done this because I don't know much about WinRAR, but people separate files into small (commonly 10MB) RAR archives for whatever reason.

The reason is usually due to file size limits. GMail only lets you send files up to 10 or 15 mbs in size for example, yet you could send off 100 of those emails and still be under your limit. A lot of other free hosting sites and such limit files sizes. (It was useful back in the days of floppies too)

What you need to do is open the first rar in winrar and extract it (it will use the others, it's not like you're extracting 1/48th of the file) What are the other files in there? More AVIs? Corrupt or incomplete rars are very common in unlawful seas, so that's possible too.

Well, the file itself is the Family Guy movie.

I unpacked the .tar, so now I have 48 .rar's.

Each .rar has a media file, a .sfv file, and a .txt file. The .txt file is just who ripped it, not sure what the .sfv file is, but it's name is 8-30-2005, so I assume it's got something to do with when it was made available.

The media file has the same name in each .rar file. Each .rar file is 15 megs. I open the first .rar, extract the media file, and it seems to go through fine. When I open the 675 meg media file, I get the 3 minutes of gray screen. All the .rar's are in the same directory, and I'm not getting any errors when extracting. If I try to extract another of the .rar's, since the files are the same name, I'm just asked if I want to overwrite the media file.

You have to start with the .00 or .01 one.

I'm extracting the media file from the .part01.rar, and there's no .part00.rar, so I think I'm choosing the right one.

Right now I'm trying a different torrent for the file, hopefully that one won't give me any problems.

Sometimes you just get bad torrents. I got a really broken Quake 3 torrent earlier.

Hoho. There's a 98% probability it may be between the gap in your front two teeth.

Seriously, though, I've not a clue. Perhaps my mum tossed it out. I'll just have to keep feigning ignorance.

No feigning involved

With the insouciance of youth in my favor, I'm not sure why I should even reply to this. I can't help but assume, however, that you didn't pick up on my facetious text.

Yep, it must have been a corrupt torrent or something. Tried a different one, and it came through fine. Movie was funny as hell, too.
