View Full Version : Rome
First episode last night. I enjoyed it though it seemed a little flat. It may be that they just needed to set up the storyline for the series and introduce all the characters crammed into 50 minutes.
I think it will turn out very cool by the end.

It wasn't built in a day.
 @ anticor
I was unable to catch the first episode, will catch the repeat though. I'm very much looking forward to this series.
I watched it last night, but I can't say I was super impressed. I'll give it a couple more weeks though before I pass any real judgement. Although it does get the thumbs up for having 2 seperate naked chick scenes in the pilot episodes.

damn, I thought this was going to be about Jim Rome.
I thought the first episode would be packed with way more punches than were delivered last night. The build up is good so far but hopefully the next couple of episodes will have alot more action/plot/excitement than shown so far.

I rather enjoyed it, sure it was a little slow but they did a good job introducing the characters, plenty enough to hook me.
They wrapped up the missing eagle storyline nice, quick and cleanly... if only GMs could write quests like that.

Yet another show I missed due to the wasted effort of the VMAs.

I thought it was fantastic. They do a really good job of recreating how things really were back then, for example, the divorcing of the one daughter to marry her to Pompeii (spelling?) And I don't know if anyone else caught it, but they were painting arsenic on her face to whiten it up.

How'd anyone not catch it? She says "I think you could use some more arsenic."

I think this can be summed up with 2 pulp fiction quotes...
Jules: You know the shows on TV?
Vincent: I don't watch TV.
Jules: Yeah, but, you are aware that there's an invention called television, and on this invention they show shows, right?
Jules: Well, the way they make shows is, they make one show. That show's called a pilot. Then they show that show to the people who make shows, and on the strength of that one show they decide if they're going to make more shows. Some pilots get picked and become television programs. Some don't, become nothing. She starred in one of the ones that became nothing.

I have heard nothing whatsoever about this show. Time? Day? Network?
Sunday, HBO, I think 9pm.

I loved the arsenic part too.
I thought the costumes were incredible. Hopefully the storyline will pick up a little now that we've been introduced.

Bumping an old thread but..anyone been keeping up? Is it only on it's 3rd episode? I have HBO on demand so there's only up to the 3rd episode. It's addicting.
I think my favorite character would have to be Pullo (the legion soldier with the shaved head..the one that had the brain surgery).

only two episodes so far and a "Making of Rome" special. I've liked it so far, mainly because of the nudity.
I found it very interesting that the Centurian fella's wife was breast feeding her "daughters baby" at the end of two though. Got MILF?

Uhh, that was their way of telling you she was lieing, it isn't her daughter's baby.
Edit: didn't notice your quotes around daughters baby... so yeah, you got that...
