That defenses for pures in general completely suck ass? I'm incredibly curious as to how the hell they're going to make this work. I've gone from about 850 ds in defensive in GS3 to about 480 in GS4. Everyone else I've seen in the test server, and spoken to otherwise as reported similiarly shitty defenses. This better be fixed or work out somehow, cause as it stands, we're pretty much going to be easy as hell to kill.

Not amused, Syb

Um, see my post on comparative Pure and Square DS/AS. My rogue can hit a pure in guarded from lvls 25 on wards. Generally though, everyones DS is going down. My projected defensive DS at 100 would be around 1100 in GS3, being reduced to a sturdy 620 in GS4. At present, my DS in defensive is about 400, being reduced to about 250 in GS4.

Remember the critters are being changed too.

Not-ambushed
My DS = +174

Ambushed
My DS = +94

and it'll be even worse in a battle with a rogue

Yes, we loose a lot of DS, but the critters are being toned down to take that into affect.

I did a bit of testing with different training plans, and I found that weapon/shield training a sorcerer brings more DS (about 20-30 DS, in all stances) then does the staff. But the loss of skills from doing weapon/shield is staggering.

I have also done a bit of testing and prefer the weapon/shield training. As of right now, even with all spells the best I can get is a DS of 650 in guarded. The bad news is that griffens in OTF hit with a similar AS. And good forbid you get disarmed with with your staff. With a shield it may take 3 or 4 hits. Even worse news is that there seems to be cap on CS. The best CS I can get is 538. 303 spell trains in sorcerer spells gives me the same CS as a 151, 76, 76 spell training. The only difference is I get a CS boost with 425. Even with my max CS of 563, I have a hard problem killing OTF critters whose TD's are in the lower 500's to upper 400's. The problem as I see it is there are 2 choices. Train in the magic arts and have a lower DS and be killed or train weapon/shield have a higher DS but be unable to kill anything. This might be a good time to take up lockpicking.

I have also bugged 712. The documentation says +1 DS for every spell level over 12. With 233 spell level I only saw an additional 103 to my DS. It should have been 221. Quite a significant loss. If this is what it is supposed to be I am going to train mostly in minor spirit for the additional DS. I hope these problems are fixed

Sorcerers get to die for the first time in years and it's scaring you all huh?

I'm not going to begin to even worry about it until the critters are tweaked, the bugs are squashed, and we actually begin real testing not just debugging for free.

Whoever says sorcerers never die has never played one.
Stun a sorcerer, kill a sorcerer. That's why CoS was given it's retribution strike.
