View Full Version : Spell Hunting - Over Hunting

I have no problem with people overhunting. BUT I do find it annoying that people sit and beg on the amunet for spells. I hunt Zombies and I started at level 18 and I am now 19. I do it without extra spells and most of the time fogetting to use my Combat Manuevers. I am overhunting and can do it spell less.
What are they doing hunting 10, 20 levels over their train? I have seen some of these people who are Lords and ladies doing this too. Then they go underhunt.
Am I somehow different that I have not needed spells to hunt.
Don't get me wrong if someone is offering I will accept. Just I do not find I need to be spelled up to over hunt.

I hate the begging, too. Sure, it's nice to have extra spells, but wtf. People should be able to find something they can hunt under their own power.

Different mind set, poor training, bad hunting styles, paranoia... who knows.
Some classes are better at overhunting in certain areas, others are weaker. Plenty of people would never have made it to their level without spelltanking and become dependant on it.
Other people are just plain lazy. Easier to slam ATTACK then it is to stance around and take care of wounds.

I never use spells. I never overhunt. I am king.

Eh, my characters have always overhunted. There's been very little that they couldn't overhunt by at least 5-10 trains on every profession I have and yes, they have access to spells, but they don't always use them and they don't HAVE to have them. I learned early on to stance dance with all of my girls and to utilized hide/ambush with my rogue at times. I think it's just a matter of how they are trained and whether or not they actually have good hunting skills.
It's not necessary to hunt over their level no, but it's more interesting and fun for me rather then staying in an area that I know I'm safe in and don't have to do anything but sit there and hit ATTACK over and over.

Hrmm chopping wood - attack and attack over and over...
Sounds like Zombies... I am overhunting them... me 19 them 23 BUT I ambush and take out their legs first.
Can't seem to crit them dead to often with my Short Sword.
Which brings up a side question --- is there a blessable crit weighted weapon like a Short Sword or Krolvin Backslasher around?

You can't have weighting and blessability. It's one of those things in GS. Special item property only has one slot, so its either blessable or crit weighted.

Oh as the reason why my rogue hunts 15 levels or more over her head-- it's because that's where her husband hunts and we've been hunting in the same area for 2 plus years now. It's like second nature and I would rather hunt with him then anyone else to be honest. Also yeah, there's the thrill factor. heh!

Well... there are a couple things that violate this... but they're rare.

Overhunting is fun... but only when you don't pathetically beg for spells.

I have nothing against Overhunting... Maybe I should have titled the thread Spell Beggars...

I find more often that people just want to overhunt so they can brag about it.
This is why 13 year olds shouldn't play GS.
Hence GS roleplay has gone down the shitter.

Thats why paladins are the best class in existance.

There are sancted crit weighted items, paladins can bless anything, and paladins can sanctify anything. It's not a matter of a mechanical limit, because obviously it can be done.

I need a script that spells people up all day long for money. Then I could buy Gemstone with the CASH I make on Ebay.

I could make you one that spells up anyone that comes to your table.

Well one reason people OVERHUNT undead areas are for favor. I know I don't do this, but if yer low on favor and just need some real quick, it's the thing to do...
But...yea...what everyone else said is true.
I'm just hating people hunting Jungle trolls with their level 89 Wizard/Sorcerer/Cleric friend binding/sleeping/etc to make them die easier... Teras is worse than Zul Logoth!

My empath hunts 20 trains over her head (she's 29) with 111 because I enjoy the challenge, but I will never ask anyone for spells.
If you're going to uphunt, be self sufficient. The end.

GSIII it was explained as a mechanical issue.
Now it may just be tradition, or less so because of the paladin sanctify ability.
And while there are sancted and weighted items. There isn't a weighted item that retains the ability to be blessed, which is what was asked.

A paladin can make anything blessed for 4 minutes or one swing. Yes, thats still pointless, but if you had a paladin friend whose lot in life was to follow you around and bless your imflass claidhmore every swing, you'd be set.

The property of sanctification would occupy a special slot, which you say of which there is only one.

A paladin can sanctify their own claidhmore forever, I'm afraid. There's no time limit on 1625 - Sanctify.

I charged him 25k heh. I don't like the kid at all but I'll take his money for some spells that someone else is going to knock off him when they push his eyes through his ass.

I used to own a permablessed claidhmore. I know that the exception doesn't prove the rule, but they could write weapon scripts to get around it.

you can have it. There are Eonake claid out there and also Paladin can now swing a claidhmore that they self blessed

From a code point of view they probably just havent written the code to do it. It is actually something quite simple.
Probably just not worth the effort or the possible overkill to the system that would create.

Well yeah, sanctifed and flares/weighting have always worked together.

Yep. I believe there's some blessable flaring and blessable weighted scripted weapons in Plat. I think they had a Prime analog at some point.
