Here's my plea to clerics:

STOP asking for healers on behalf of a corpse. We all know the corpse can ask for themselves, ok? Maybe they have someone in particular in mind? Or maybe there's someone they'd rather NOT heal them? Just wait a few moments for the body to sort it out, please.

Here's my plea to empaths:

Don't listen when a cleric asks for healing for a body unless the dead person confirms it is indeed what they want, ok?

Simple, right?

Feh.

I've seen some people that RP that they cannot talk as a corpse.

I go AFK when I die. I love when people do shit for me. I also heal bodies when the cleric asks all the time.

Have you ever considered shutting the fuck up? I'm already sick of you and this is the first post of yours that I've ever seen (even though you've been around a grand total of 11 days anyway).

Ok, and THAT'S an argument I do understand. However, can you wait a few moments, just to make sure? I mean, honestly, 90% of the time when it happens, I don't even have a chance to get a word in edgewise.

New death mechanics made me wait for a raise today :( And I actually bought a freaking deed for the first time ever in GS4 yesterday.

Don't get me wrong, it's about time :)

I think Mesaphe is really just an angry empath who does not have .healpeople.

Erm, I've never had a situation where I was healed when I didn't ask for it, or when the empath didn't first say, "Hey, do you wish healing?" or whatever. Once I was healed/raised when I was clearly afk, but I considered that a favor.

If you have a healer coming, be the first to speak up and let the cleric know.

Demeanor goes to neutral when you're dead, yes? Or did they recently change this?

If I fog in with a dead person as an empath, you're damn straight I"m going to ask for a cleric if I havnt already called for one that I work with when I'm rescuing. If you're the corpse you can get the fuck over it or depart confirm or unlink. And if you act an ass then I'll either not fog to you to rescue on future deaths, or fog to you, heal, then fog back and leave you out there for the cleric of your choosing to come raise you themselves.

Same goes when I'm playing a rescuing cleric. Yes I'm going to ask for a healer when I've rescued and am going to raise someone... its called professional courtesy and teamwork.

The only exceptions are when there's an RP reason that is actually RP'd out.

Man there's a big dif between this and empath vultures... I don't mind an empath or cleric asking for one for me.. I will usually speak up if I already have one before they ask... or before they fog in.

Now when I'm alive and someone randomly heals me without saying anything and without me asking for it... then I get pissed and correctly IMO. We all pay to play and if that's what you want to do Mes that's your choice... Speak up and say something in the event you're unhappy in character, but if you're looking for sympathy here I doubt you'll find it on this particular section of the empathing issue.

"Argh" would be a really funny character name.

Anyway, I usually try and refrain from almost any open talking whilst dead, so I make attempts at using only TWITCH and TREMBLE for when people ask a corpse (me) a question. Some certain people who are known to instantaneously fiend for empaths the split-second they enter a well-known ressurection "zone," probably get rid of a lot roleplaying of that which being dead, maybe.

I love using tremble when I am dead. People usually freak out and cast preservation on me, even when it's obvious I don't need it.

My empath doesn't heal people she doesn't like/know. I don't have .healall. people whatever. I enjoy RPing the hell out of healing.

That said, it's polite to ask if you're a vulture, always.

If someone needs you, they will ask you. That's my philosphy anyway.

I've only had one instance of having a body healed on my authority in which the body after raising states, in essense, you know that healer must die now for touching me and not asking permission to heal me. I want to say the body was Xandalf, but it has been a while. Absolutely a dark elf, of that I am certain. The healer I believe was a halfling... So! Not a happy match. Tried to take the responsibiliy and punishment myself, since I allowed the healer to heal him, but it didn't go over. Made for fun and interesting interaction. Now when I rescue a dark skinned elf, and they wish me to keep them and fog them, I tend the wound myself pretty much as I have already needed to touch them. If I know the deader from previous experience not to have issues with who touches them, I ask for them if they do not, or they are not heard.

Most deaders are polite enough after being raised. It is a little annoying to ask the body if they wish to be raised and the response is a less than polite "What do you think? Of course I want raised!" type reaction. I can't speak for all clerics of course, but when I go to a rescue, or even goto someone calling for a cleric- I am usually stopping something I was occupied with to it. A simple "Yes" even without a "please" or "thanks" would be preferrable. I do understand cranky deaders, been there myself. I try to remain polite to the people helping me.

whisp [corpse] "do you wish me to heal you"

whisp [corpse] "do you wish me to give you life?"

My two basic questions when I'm an empath or cleric and giving attention to a dead body.

Edited to add:
Thats if I'm not the one who's performed the rescue.

Tell me how you can ask for a empath while dead? I mean, unless there is already an empath in the room, or you're in voln, the only way you are asking for an empath is by OOC means. How many of you people are Voln nowadays (half my characters are Voln, and I feel like I'm the only one these days)? I understand maybe if you're at the dais and you have a particular empath, but don't tell clerics to wait five minutes so you're friend you just contacted on AIM can come over from Vaalor to heal you, thats ridiculous. Keep it IC, and its perfectly IC for a Cleric to call for an empath's aid.

"I think Mesaphe is really just an angry empath who does not have .healpeople. "

Hey. It's GS4. Everybody has that automatically. No script required.

08-25-2005, 09:00 AM
I know I am guilty of this crime. I order empaths to heal as soon as I fog a body in, and when they are not fast enough (15-30seconds) I proceed to insult them for being lazy piles of shit, as I tend the body.

I never let my character lie in the arms of some healer or cleric, while dead.
I don't care what the cost. It will always be to depart.

I don't mind who raises me or who heals me when I die. If I'm quiet and let an empath or cleric take charge, things get done faster.

However, it ticks me off when clerics and empaths bitch about someone decaying. I hate when I get a ten minute lecture about it.

If I know a cleric is looking for me I will wait but if not, I decay pretty fast.

It's not like they have to live with the sting if I decay. Instead of crying about not learning, they should use that time to hunt.

I should have made myself clear. I wasn't asking for anyone to wait, nor was I contacting anyone through AIM or whatever. This was in all in TSC- and so was the empath I would have preferred heal me (except she didn't have a chance because another empath responded faster to the cleric asking for healing on my behalf). I have never and would never contact someone through OOG methods to come heal/raise me. But if there's an empath that I'd prefer heal me already in the room, yes I'd like to be given a few extra seconds to ask him/her myself.

I can definately sympathize with the fact that most clerics are really just trying to help. And I also understand that when I'm a corpse, I shouldn't really have a great say in what happens with my body (and since I believe that demeanor still goes to neutral when you're dead- ultimately I *don't* have control over it). That doesn't, however, mean that it wouldn't be nice if people every once in a while considered it anyway.
