Anyone ever do this? Been thinking about it. You could fry every day without needing to hunt, plus, have awesome spells/lore and utilitys.

Thoughts?

gs3 bard can have the highest AS, in gs4 i don't know

with lore you can get real reading of lock, yeah good idea i'd imagine

I'm torn. Either Two Weapon Combat Bard or Pure Picking.

Wrong, the highest AS at the cap at the moment is Tsin's, a rogue.

Can have

2X cm with that song of eaonak

yeah secondary skills sux, still highest AS

Personally i would do a TWC (2X cm) with 1X perception, 1X disarm with unlock you'd be not that bad, picking to level is boring, very boring

StrayRogue

I believe Tsin is 2x CM, Edged, and has about 60+ Minor Elemental Spells.

Bah sorry, been a while

bard got 425 too, with 1019 complete with 2X cm, highest AS

Yeah i doubt anyone would do that and gs3 is almost dead..

I figure a picking bard would die less... but I don't know what kind of income they could generate. They could do all sorts of things for tips... create magic items, loresing, defensive spellups...

sure man you would be a great suporter

but damn, would you want to pick pick pick for 100k to level?

I would not

StrayRogue

They probably *Can* have the highest AS, but no bard to my knowledge, is at the cap.

And hunting is any less repetetive? Less cost on deeds... and 30k an hour? Better than I'm doing now.

He didn't say a bard does have the highest AS he said can and he is right.

Pure numbers says a giantman bard with 75 minor ranks and Eonak's song, max strength, 2x CM and 2x weapon will have the highest AS. It's possible but not very feasible. That 2x CM from the start eats up so many points unless you're an old ass bard that reallocates.

SP could have the highest AS at cap if he really wanted to work the numbers. That and he could sing his own big ass gear. Not sure how many spellsong ranks for 10x but I'm thinking if he went 475 and 86 spellsongs he would have moderatly high X gear.

Is SP at the cap in GSIII?

I know in the test instance he reallocates to 100 trains.

Soulpieced's self-cast AS is higher than Tsin's. He just has a number of self-mana AS enhancing items. I haven't checked recently, but my AS is something like 732 or 738, and his is in the mid or high 720's (sans warhorn and other self-mana stuff not in circle).

I think a picking bard would be a fine idea, but you'd probably be best off still doubling a weapon type, and just skipping CM so you have the points to 2x disarm, pick, and maybe perception. So all-in-all you still probably have to pick up some combat related stuff, but I actually thought of the idea about a year ago.

To remind you Anticor, sonics are now being capped at 7x.

... and hit for 243 points of damage!
Blast to the kobold's head destroys left eye!
Brain obliterated!
Disgusting, but painful only for a second.
The kobold crumples to a heap on the ground and dies.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

A clean miss.

Show off. Got anything nice to sell me SP, beyond those armors?

Soulpieced

Not really, just armor.

Bah, some rich old person ;) Still looking for that self-mana invisi brig.

Personally, I think self-mana items are very annoying because of the curse failure. I have a very good chance of warding myself self-cast from the sorcerer circle.

StrayRogue
10-03-2003, 10:24 AM
Curse failure?

>As you raise your pavis, magic essence rises from the surface. Before you can react, the essence violently strikes you with a backlash of energy.
CS: +575 - TD: +470 + CvA: -9 + d100: +16 == +112
Warding failed!
A thread of swirling gray magic issues forth from your hand and surrounds you, whirling malevolently before disappearing within your body.
You shiver slightly as an invisible rash covers your body! A feeling of defenselessness washes over you!
You feel the urglaes pavis drawing mana from you.
Roundtime 3 Seconds.

.

I have a 100% chance of warding myself self-cast. All self-mana (sans a few) have a failure that casts spell 715 (curse) at you. Yes, that is the itchy curse, and had I not been paying attention, I could have dropped the stupid thing.

StrayRogue
10-03-2003, 03:59 PM
Failure based on what? MIU? Luck?

Soulpieced
10-03-2003, 04:13 PM
Used to be a flat rate, now it "supposedly" takes into account MIU along with some sort of failure. I have 60 ranks of MIU currently, and it seems to fail way too often to be a reliable hunting tool considering I have a 100% chance of warding myself.

Crazy thing is... I can get to fresh and clear on 5 nymph boxes but can't achieve that while hunting Spider Temple. And I can still hunt Spider Temple pretty easy. I have yet to be webbed.

Welp, I'm sold. Going with the picking route. Giving up CM. Still have 2x edged, and 1x armor shield. If I hunt it will be in a group. After all, thats how bards are built.

After reallocating in GSIII, I can pick my level boxes, fry after a few big jobs, no matter what level the boxes are (open handed frying=35 exp per minute), and pull in about 15k-25k per session depending on the scarabs.

Died a few times now, broken all my picks, but thats just my learning curve.

I know I'll never be the best at picking, but I'm having fun.

Fresh and clear on 5 nymph boxes? Hell, I'd be almost muddled off of that. You're just not doing it right.

Actually, it was clear. And yes, as I go I am learning to use the lowest lockpick without lore.

Soulpieced

As a side note, I try to NEVER use lore. It just seems to make you lose so much experience it's nasty. I found the best way to learn from as many landing boxes without using lore (for my picks) is moderately difficult with a kelyn/golvern, which is up to about -355. I can still get RT on some primitive's and a bunch of rudimentary, and still get 90% of the boxes without using lore.
