Either way, it's not an option I've ever seen on any message board where they have internal messaging. Once it's gone, it's gone. No way to get it back.

well, maybe you could delete the u2u in your OUTBOX. Not sure if it'll prevent the u2u from getting to the recipient.....

Yes, I'm aware of that feature. Our HR director uses that all the time. The dumb broad.

Oh and deleting them from your outbox doesn't work. ;)

IM's are a slightly different concept. u2us should be compared to emails, not IMs.

IMs and e-mails are entirely the same concept. A digital message is sent. IMs are closer to U2Us - they require the same interface (the Players' Corner for U2Us and whatever software you run for IMs).

I really have no knowledge in that field to argue with you about IMs and emails and u2us and such. Go you.


But think about this. If we have the option to delete a post, would a similar concept come into play to delete an unopened u2u?

Simply because it is stored data, yes. That's where it is similar to an e-mail. An IMs are sent in real-time and are displayed, not stored, to the receiver. It is possible (whether or not this forum can support it because of the running software) to delete an unread U2U because it just requires deleting stored data. It's equivalent to the receiver deleting the U2U in question, but instead, the sender takes on that action and does it before the receiver knows it's there. What it comes down to is having access to another person's U2U inbox through your own account.

I've had that same moment of regret more than once. However, on these forums, it isn't possible to remove a U2U once it's been sent, whether it's been read, or not. Sad, but true. :(

It might be possible on some of the later incarnations of the XMB boards. I'll look into it to see if the later renditions have this feature; although, Kranar has said it would be a real headache to upgrade these boards at this juncture.

Never hurts to throw out ideas.

I do that a lot at work, and it usually takes four or five mentions of the same idea before management agrees it's a great idea. It's all about timing.

I'm patient.
