using router to block POPup Ad sites

I'm wondering, besides using traditional pop-blockers, firefox, AND disabling cookies, if I can't just use my router to block the domains that the pop'ups are originating from.

Any thoughts on that?

It'd probably be easier to edit your HOSTS file.

Not sure what the "hosts" file thing is, but in one fell swoop, I cleared out all the popup's that A> bust through mozilla and B> annoy the hell outta me.

All I had to do was block the domain that the ads were coming from in via a router menu setting.
